Get an old cassete and take the magnetic tape out so it is essentially blank so that nothing touches the tape head to make noise. Then put it in and Turn on the DOLBY NR or something in the sound menu and the noise will be gone

I've done the 'aux input mod' with my bose unit, then bought a Bluetooth module which I plug the aux cable into. Works fantastically and all done for under £30.
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
+1 did the same

The iphone doesn't have the torque app... nor does it have proper bluetooth
Any way I actually made some progress, managed to connect to the ECU using NDS III Lite. It uses the Nissan consult protocol, this works perfectly, reading all sorts of sensors and switches in the Z, definitely not the prettiest app though, there is a paid version with more features and no adds.
So I suspect Nissan turned off the normal OBD protocols
Pro version of torque has consult protocol in beta, but says you need a specific consult adapter, no idea if they will support elm in the future

has any one figured this one out yet?
-
Yes, but I am assuming you don't need the wiring or steering wheel control box as you have this already?
You could find one that only has the bezel and brackets?
Get correct one for your year model too.
-
Ebay and Amazon sell them still, will look a ton better.
-
Damn guys how bought getting a bezel kit instead of cramming it in there with whore gaps and cages

You need to replace the whole center plastic part. The one starting by the dials that goes down and stops just below the radio. The hole for the cubby is different between NAV and Cubby models

Looks really good Martinjj!

How would you power these to come on with the ignition?
By tapping into an "ignition on" source of which there are a few, obviously it will be the most easily accessible, I have a meeting this coming Friday with an auto electrician (who will also be doing the fitting instructions) as to what the best ignition on option will be,.
The best/easiest option is what I meant, by wanting to know what this is so please share when you are aware, would be appreciated!

Sounds like the swc is connected the wrong way around.
Yes the speakers need to be connected to the RCA's as you are now double amplifying them using the head unit and the bose amplifiers in the Z
-
I was thinking of doing this as well when I got my Z. the only time this is useful though is at security checkpoints or trying to explain to someone from inside the car.
I did see that the G35 button matches perfectly, however I doubt there is a harness ready for it so suspect you would need to run wires from said switch to the back and splicing into the boot button release.

This should be good!

Any of you guys using one on a HR?
-
Worked great on my 2008 HR, otherwise check the service manual, should be of use.

Doesn't the buster mod send through to much power to the amp?
-
Meh I don't think I will ever understand these threads
If you want OEM, keep the Bose HU and just use a AUX Lead or Cassette adapter for the iphone, granted you want ipod controls on the head unit, but if you want OEM thats what you sacrifice.
With the OEM HU you'd then need to upgrade speakers to get better sound quality (Even then it wont be as great as an aftermarket HU)
Maybe it's just a generation thing
Think it's about keeping the look of the dash sleek and standard without having a Christmas tree on the dash that's how I see it and want it too.

show us more! looks good mate.

poking around in my car I could not find any wiring for the sat nav. Additionally the head unit harness has the wires missing for the NAV trigger and voice...
The pins on the headunit do however work as they should
