  1. ha ha, good point. I have already bought my own oil, some Castrol Edge that had 20% off from ECP. BUt I did wonder how the oil costs were only £20 from Nissan.

I was looking at the job sheet & there is a fair bit on the service that a useless tech could just sign off without checking.

I get the idea, Abbey Motorsport it is. I just need a full day off work now to get down there & back . Shame I didn't think of this earlier , as I'm going to Gatwick tomorrow

  2. WHat's the latest prices for ABbey Motorsport P2? I have seen £244.50 quoted a few years ago. Is this still about right? That is for a 2004 VQ35DE .

JUst out of interest, is there much in a P2 that a tech could mess up? If it's just an oil change, surely even a Nissan apprentice couldn't mess that up could they? What do Abbey Motorsport do that's so good?

  3. Hi,

I am after a P2 in the next month or 2. I am in Ashford, Kent.

I have a 44 000 mile 2004 350z with full nissan service history so far. I thought it makes sense to keep this up as it comes with a years RAC cover anyway. Otherwise I'd consider Abbey Motorsport.

I have been quoted £285 from Baileys NIssan Canterbury or £250 from KAP Nissan Ashford (and they will pick the car up & drop it back round for free).

THe car has been to Baileys NIssan in Canterbury most of the time before, and it's still working, so that's a good sign!

ANyone got any reviews/feedback on KAP Ashford? I don't want what happened to my HOnda , where I took it to dealer round the corner & they didn't change filters etc, as I checked afterwards!

  4. You can do better brakes at the front than the rear, but not the opposite unless you want some interesting characteristics under braking. As such, I'd stick with OEM pads and discs at the rear unless your fronts need doing soon too, in which case I'd swap the lot out for something better for cheaper.

    Cheers,

where do you get oem discs from ? How much are they?

  5. I have had an advisory on an MOT earlier, saying my rear discs are corroded.

I have no intention of doing a track day, I can't drive for @*!#.

Apparently, a dealer would charge a lot for rear discs.

WHat would be a reasonable but non pricey set to get & where from? I guess, you would need new rear pads too?

    Please don't confuse me!

  6. Did they say where the exhaust was leaking from, usual culprit area is where the mid pipe meets the rear silencer, if so, then either the Scorpion or Cobra will overcome the above issue as they both replace the mid pipe and rear silencer.

Best to check where the leak is from though first, if it’s the above it should be fairly easy to check and confirm.

The Cobra takes circa a week, as they’re made to order, the Scorpion is about the same too, the Cobra allows you to choose the tailpipe too, so you can customise it, you can choose from one of these tail pipe choices…

    OK thanks for advice.

I noticed when I bought the car, that there was white gunk on the joint between the mid pipe & rear silencer, so I knocked seller down a bit. So I am guessing, that was a bodge job to cover it up.

Are there any other differences between Cobra & Scorpion? WOuld a garage charge much to fit one of these?

  7. OK< thanks for the clear responses!

I have been reading the threads & trying to get my head round the different exhausts & jargon etc.

So a Cobra for £425 or a Scorpion for £374 is the exhaust system? Is it just that, that I would need to replace?

WHat is the difference between them? How long do they take to deliver?

Depends where it it blowing. Y pipe or back box flange ??

Nope, they were about to close, but said that they will get the car on ramp tomorrow & tell me where it's blowing. What difference does y pipe or back box flange mean? SOrry I am ignorant on exhausts

  9. Hi,

I have only had my 350 a week or 2 & I thought I'd put it through an MOT to see how it does.

It has failed the emissions test, due to a major leak in the exhaust system.

Will this be expensive to rectify?

Do I stick with standard OEM parts, or would an alternative be better?

    Dave

  10. I'm in Ashford.

To be honest, at the moment, I don't know how long I'll be keeping the car for. I am having second thoughts & maybe fancy something like an early BMW 645

I am hoping it will grow on me & iI'll get used to it.

I have Bridgestone POtenza RE050A with plenty of tread on. Is it normal for these to feel slippy & to snake?

Also , the BOSE head unit seems to have a mind of it's own & skip now & again. I want to change it, but retain steering wheel control , but Halfords won't touch it.

  11. Hi fellas,

I picked up a black 54 plate 350z just over a week ago.

It seems like a lot of car for the money.

However, I was driving a Honda Accord type-S before that, so it's quite different.

I am grateful for the advice & FAQs & stuff to look out for on here, which I read before buying it :)

I am finding it a bit demanding to drive though, especially in the wet. I am useless at parking it with the visibility, the clutch is hard-Im stalling it a bit. I am hoping I get used to the drive, as at the moment, I am cautious about pushing it too much.

But on a nice dry day on a country road, it's great, and the engine noise is lovely.

I'm hoping that I'll get used to the handling
