  1. I drive my Z everyday, roughly 50 - 100 miles a day on all different roads. Had the Z a few months now and reset the trip at the start, since then the average MPG is 29.2

Better than my previous Z3 (2.8) and nearly as good as my TT.

    :D

  2. Hi all,

Bought my Z a little over a month ago now, I purchased from a local garage, in the past iv always bought and sold privately. The local garage however just happened to have the exact car I was after.

So after buying the car I noticed how rediculousily heavy the clutch is, (did't notice when test driving) so told the garage . They drove the car and said it was a "little" stiff so would replace it . . . that was last week. Today I have picked the car up and they've replaced the clutch FOC!!

Is it normal for a garage to replace this for nothing??

Also on my way to the Garage yesterday the EML came on, they diagnosed it as a Oxygen sensor, they are replacing this Monday for free aswel. What a result!!

    :yahoo:

  3. Just an update,

Took car to Garage I bought it from, they said "Cant really feel the clutch slipping but it feel extremely heavy .... so it needs a new clutch."

They are fitting one next weds and as they havent mentioned a price im taking it they will be payiog :yahoo::thumbs:

  4. Hi all,

Been doing a bit of research as wasnt sure what this was and i see a lot of people talking about it.

A couple of questions if anyone can help thats great:

    > Where is the best place to purchase

    > what sort of price and waht BHP gains?

    > can anyone recommend someone / somewhere to install in the Suffolk area.

    Thanks Guys :teeth:

  5. clutch is normal, but if you want me to take a look for you i'm down between ipswich and woodbridge.

    Thanks, appreciate that.

Is the biting point high, or very high? Mine was high when I bought it, assuming that was ok, clutch went 2000 miles later. If there is any member local willing to check it for you well worth driving over their way

DA stands for Dual Action, its a machine which makes cleaning a whole lot easier. You can do work by hand, but it will only have so much effect as it will be impossible to create the friction and heat needed to properly remove the swirls.

A decent mid range DA is around the £100 mark, or you could try contact one of the detailing guys on here?

I would say its pretty high tbh, will try adjusting pedal and if that doesnt work then look further into it.

ahh I see, ill have a look at into buying one, suppose it saves alot of labour time and sore hands too B)

  6. DA polishers are fairly idiot proof to be honest, if it was a rotary then yes get pro to do it.

I may be being thick but what is a DA polisher?

can I do it by hand?

  7. Glad you're enjoying Z ownership.

Heavy clutch with high biting point is normal; you get used to it

There is a guide on here (see guides section) for adjusting the height of the bite point yourself. It's seemingly a simple thing to do but a real nightmare to squeeze yourself into the footwell so you can see and reach behind the clutch.

Thanks for that, it will come in useful and will attempt at the weekend.

  8.

    1. Normal

    2. Megs ultimate compound or Swirlx is supposed to be good but you'll need a da polisher to get decent results.

Also you need to be brought back down to earth......your driving the car carefully at the moment. I know your are because I always do when I get a new car and you end up with amazing mpg for the first few tanks.

Then your right foot starts to become leaden! Expect mid 20's, be prepard for low 20's ;)

Ok great thanks for the help, hmmm yes I have been driving cautiously the majoristy of the time, will have to see over the next few months.

  9. Morning all,

Just wanted to let everyone know I have owned then Z for 3 weeks now and I am very pleased with it, I use the car everyday, im a salesman and travel roughly 80 miles a day. The average fuel consumption since I bought the car has been 30.2 MPG :yahoo: getting roughly 400miles before re fueling which is great and better than my last car which was a 2.8 Z3.

I have a few questions tho:

    1) My clutch feels very heavy and the bite point is quite high, is this normal for a Z?? I purchased from a garage and its going back Monday fro them to inspect, just wondering how do I stand if it needs a new clutch, should they pay?

    2) The donut who owned the car previously has taken it thorugh a car wash by the looks of the swirls in the paint  I usually clean with meguires .... but im going off it lately, can anyone recommend something for swirl removal :bang:

    Thanks guys.

  10. Also maybe you guys can help me with a slight niggle?

I have tried to search for the answe but no luck. When taking the Z for a run last night as the rev's approached 6k they stopped and it was like I had hit the limiter? or as if fuel supply was cut?

    Any help would be great!

    Thanks

The slip light wasn't lit up was it?

I don't think so, although im not 100% sure what the slip light is?

  11. Thanks for comments guys.

I didnt put the wheels on the car and unfortunately have no reciept from previous owner so I'm not sure what they are. If anyone could tell me that would be great, I will try upload a better pic of them at some point.

All I know is they are 19" and have FORGED written on the inner lip?

  12. Yep, I think the stock rev limit on the DE engine is around 6.5k but the rev counter isn't that accurate at the top end.

I do hope your using premium fuel (97-99ron) if your bouncing it off the limiter?

I am indeed, I use the car daily so drive sensibly 99% of the time but had to see what she was capable of :drive1

    Thanks

i think you hit the limiter ;) its not a vtec engine

as for uploading pics, use something like photobucket to upload them to then copy and paste the IMG link under it once its on the system.

Ahh I seeee, I thought the limiter was around 7k ....ish but yes not a Vtec

Thanks for the tips I shall try that
