  1. Hello,

I drive from sunny norfolk down to sunny goodwood this year. After an energetic drive striaght there, lots of q's and a sniff around portsmouth my 54, 350z started making a grumbling noise from the back end - transmition!!

My initial thinking is that it got hot and the rear diff must have been dry as a bone, it sounded very raw and uncomfortable like something down the back was packed with sand.

I parked up worried, had a few beers and thought that i should ponder for a few hours. The next day she started, good as gold as usual and the noise had gone! smooth as silk transmition same as usual.

The journey back was taken very easy and the problem didnt re occur.

Have you guys and girls got any thoughts!

  2. I wonder if im getting old!

Remember RoboCop (well i think it was) when someone comes too close, big flames come out from under the car and vapourise the little darlings........proximity protection.

When I win the lottery, i may have to invest into this............

  3. Hello,

I went down to the Goodwood festival of speed last week from Norwich. it was fantastic...petrol, burning rubber, noise, v8's, beer and scantily clad women (the WD 40 girls were stunning, i wonder if my mrs will wear a WD40 catsuite!).................I AM GOING NEXT YEAR.

Sadly when I arrived (4 hours after departing Norwich) and was driving low speeds through Portsmouth i heard a grumbling from the drive at the rear. this sounded like the drive was full of gravel. Fingers crossed, i parked up and hoped that when everything had cooled down, that it would dissapear like magic by the next day!

Luckily the next morning, it had and was smooth and sound. Also the return journey to Norwich went without noise or incident!

My question is this............Does the forum think that it was probably the rear diff hot and bothered and could do with a little more grease?!? or is the census, that it may well be something a little more "interesting"

    Your thoughs gentlefolk of knowledge?

  4. Cheers C.J, a little too expensive and the wrong colour (dispalying my feminine side).

Fastfu...........agreed, but, I have time and just sold my old motor(£££) and look at autotrader, here and pistionheads with monotonus regularity, and will drive anywhere in the UK to get one................so with luck, and fingers crossed, and (i know, too many "and's") anyway, with all of that, hopefully one will fall into my lap.

  7. I am also looking and had my first drive yesterday.............coming from a 2.0v Turbo Fiat, there isnt as much savage rip your face off, but the power delivery is great smooth and goes on and on and on.

Apparently another tell tale sign is square plates for an import (please confirm guru's)

The sound was something of extreme beeeeuuuuty, (the mrs said it scared her)......my nipps may have got a little hard.

I can't wait to find the one with my name on it.................currently saving!!!!!!!

If you get a sniff of something post it on the site and again the Guru's can generally tell you about something about it.

  8. Thank you all for comments. This is exactly the heads up that I needed.

Saving a little more seems the best idea.

  9. Hello,

I currently have a fiat coupe, 2.0v turbo which as failed its MOT......marginally. So I am looking to upgrade, re invest and the 350Z fits the bill.

I have been saving cash and am ready to take the leap. I understand that the running cost are significant, so have placed my pockets at below 5k (ideally around 4).

I do like the leather and a couple of toys, although must stress that mods don't flick my switch, so thought a GT may suffice.

Please could I have some thoughts on:-

    Good Stuff

    Bad Stuff

any interested, loving homes for my beloved Fiat Coupe.

I made a little something to share my feelings a little clearer.

Athletic 34 year old seeks, sleek, tidy, sporty type, with a zest for life and enjoys leather trim to share excitement, thrills and settle down with.
