  1. Ok just got back shopping and whilst out I tried the following and now have auto folding door mirrors.

Key in ignition and switch on with mirrors in out postion on armrest.Operated mirrors in then out twice. Left in out position then ignition off. Locked door with remote and mirrors folded in:).

Unlocked door with remote after shopping and mirrors auto folded out:).

Went home and put car in garage ( using reverse but mirrors did not dip auto:wacko:.

Only no auto in reverse not working?

If thats what it stays as then that,s ok with me but I do not understand why it stopped?

It illogically to me appears that it has taken about 3/4 trips in the car to get the system (except reverse dip) to almost be back to original.? John

  2. OK so it is the button to enable/disable auto dip function but its not working. Is there anywhere to get a wiring diagram of how its wired so I can get another button?

Anyone know where I could get another button? I am assuming that a UK dealer would not be able to jhelp as its a JDM part?

    help please. John

  3. Thanks...is that a tiny one that stays in or out as it is pushed to either be on or off? This one makes no difference to non operation. If thats the only one maybe just replace it with one thats known to work just to try? That button IS tiny and is the nearest to the steering wheel??

  4. Hi Guys

My 2005 Auto Convertible JDM came back from MOT and now the auto folding door mirrors dont fold/unfold when locking unlocking the car. They have done for last 7 years without fail. What should I look out for please?

    John

PS they still work individually if folded from inside the car but not by remote key operation.

  5. Hi Folks

My JDM Fairlady 2005 Tiptronic has stopped auto dipping mirrors when in reverse, it has always worked for the last 5 years but now wont. All the other features of the mirrors are ok. fold when ignition goes off ok and manual electric adjustment of mirrors works ok. Just no dip in reversing car?

    Any ideas folks...

PS 5 years of pain free JDM, well made cars!!

John PS reversing light works ok as well.

  6. Hi Folks

Just to say car back on road complete. But a door for roadster is different from a saloon door. On the roadster there is a stub which sticks out from door and locates in door pillar as ( I think ) a support or strengthening method. This is not found on normal doors I have seen ( maybe different years have these?). Anyway the saloon door does not have the holes/fixed nuts to accept the stud being mounted. I am in the process of drilling out the door and putting in captive nut and a "rivnut" for the blind hole one.

Will post if and when done...

  7. OK local garage ( who I have used before..restored front end of my Corvette) have quoted £1600. Inc new wing( Nissan one -refused to use pattern one), used door in perfect condition, and will pull out rear 1/4 panel. Includes vat and labour and materials ( except any door furniture clips/parts that break on removal and need replacement) and repaint all l/h side of car ( their paintwork is excellent).

    2nd week in January start.

Cant wait and will stay away from parked low loaders in future i promise!

  8. Hello

I hit a parked low loader on my nearside and need a front wing, door and rear wingf for a 2005 roadster fairlady import. My fault so doing repairs myself. Are the panels for roadster the same/ for import/. Anyone have useable old panels i can buy?

    Cheers

rear 1/4 panel may just get away with a donor arch if they are all the same

  9. Thanks for replies...have not had time myself to diagnose but did try turn wheels ( rear with it up on stands) but could not feel any bad resistance other than LSD?

garage looking at it today said most likley caliper piston jammed/corroded. i trust the garage as he knows 350z and looked after my Corvettes for 15 years. You think 350,s have tricky handbrakes..Corvettes 1991 to 1997 were almost useless even when new!!

will post again when garage diagnosis known..just before Christmas eh? need that!

  10. just got back from short run ( 8 miles) and the rear o/s drum was VERY hot as i found out when I washed the car. STEAM.

Pads are good but could the hand brake be "jamming" or something. Would it help to operate handbrake when going slowly in reverse to maybe help something from unjamming? ( tech phrase that)!

  12. Hi

I have a JDM 2005 and it takes EBC yellowstuff pads...awesome stopping power from cold. Can find part numbers if you need them. They are however a little more aggressive on discs I believe. Have had a set on for 8,000 miles and about 3/4 way worn.. Discs are original and just about due for replacement, local garage say they can be turned down once and still be within tolerance. Mine are non-brembo on a Jap import.
