  1. Hi Chris,

If you can't find your preferred colour, mine is coming off this week at RT performance at Brentford. It is black though.

    Simon

I'll ask the bodyshop what they think of painting a black bumper and get back to you Monday morning. Thanks

  2. *Old Topic - All sorted now*

    Hi all,

I've had a brush with an armco and now need a new rear bumper left hand rear side light and main cluster.

The main part I need is the bumper, which must be,

    - Factory style

    - UK not import

    - Colour Blue, silver or white (to make it easy to paint it blue)

Will pay between £100 and £150 depending on colour and condition

I have already found the Rear passenger side light for £46 and the rear passenger light cluster for £80, but will buy them altogether or from someone of the forum if they can do it for a cheaper price.

I can collect if in Buckinghamshire or near by or it will have to be posted.

Any advice on where I can get one would be appreciated.

  3. That looks properly the business, loving the true dual! do you have to get it with the crossover pipe, or can you keep it straight at that point?

might well have to save up for one of these, was just going to go for a scorpion, but this looks so much nicer!

Only option is to have the cross over. This is better for performance, but not for loudness.

You could always get your own part made up to replace the cross over, or even cut out the middle of the cross over and modify it which would then be a guaranteed fit.

  4. As some of you know, I broke my exhaust within 2 weeks of buying my 350Z.

I seem to be suffering with alot of surface rust under the car and will have to treat it at some point.

Here is the old exhaust which is the standard OEM part.

    ^Spot the problem

So after looking at the options I decided to go for a upgraded exhaust that I should never want to alter.

To that end I opted for a stainless true dual exhaust provided by Tarmac (PM for details)

    - Invidia Gemini £875 delivered

The kit replaces everything from the Cats back and should give similar gains to that of the Stillen dual exhaust. Included with the exhaust are all the nuts, bolts and gaskets required, but I found I was somehow 4 bolts short. The rubber hangers are not provided.

    P1000525.jpg

    P1000526.jpg

Fitting was hassle free as the kit has been designed well even though the parts are labeled for a left hand drive car. The tailpipes are currently sitting about 10mm to the right of where it should sit, but I will see where it ends up after having it for a while. The additional pipework sits lower than the original exhaust due to it having to pass under something connecting to the suspension.

The exhaust looks awesome (I went for the tips that look closest to standard). At idle and part throttle the system is really quiet and good for everday use. You must remember that I have been driving without a back box for 2 weeks, so any system would sound quiet. The sound of the exhaust has got alot nicer and I will upload a sound clip when I get a video camera. When you do floor it there is a much racier sound than the OEM system (from memory) and for me its loud enough. I imagine that this is a quiet system compared to others, so it could take a HFC or de-cat without becoming unbearable.

    Next job - brakes

  5. Just wanted to add that I have seen this before in the French Canyons.

We had just parked in the car park for a restaurant and where going inside when we saw a people carrier un-park itself and start rolling towards the restaurant. It was heading straight for where people where sitting outside, but there was a car parked side on infront of them, so it jsut smashed into the side of that!

We decided to eat inside after that :)

  6. Talked to Tarmac and his current options were

    Scorpion Y-piece back

Invidia GeminiCat Back (True Dual I believe)

    Nismon Cat back

I'm tempted to spend the money on the Invidia TD system as its a proper upgrade. Has anyone run this system on their car? Has anybody got dyno results of a True Dual Vs the standard system layout? Would be nice to know you are improving the volumetric efficiency for your money.

  7. Do you consider yourselves as 350z Fans? Nissan Fans? What would be the difference?

I am a 'fan' of certain cars in the respect that I think they are good drivers cars, but its not because of the brand or heritage. It just so happens that Nissan have made lots of cars that I like (Silvia, 350z, 370Z Skyline) but this is the first Nissan I have had and the next car will be picked on its own merits and what I need at the time.

Are you particularly loyal to 350z? to Nissan? Do you have 350z/Nissan tattoos? ;)

I would defend my car if somebody slagged it of as its a very good car. But apart from that no.

And what do you seek for when subscribing to an owners community?

I needed advice on replacement parts for my car and upgrades for track use. I knew that the 350Z had a large modifying following, so I went looking for it so I could learn from other peoples experience.

Do you consider yourselves as "special" for Nissan? Do they do anything in particular to recognize you? If not, would you expect them to treat you differently?

The only contact I have had with Nissan is through the dealers and they just seem to want to rip me off with extortionate part prices. Its an old car now so I'm not expecting to get any special treatment in the same way that a new car buyer would get (as they want them to buy more new cars)

Ok so seen it now and its rusted to buggery. The weld has failed completely where the center section flange meets the airbox. I get away with just doing the center pipe but the pipes to the back box will start falling apart soon.

So looks like I do need a new exhaust.

Anybody interested in buying the silencers or tail pipes as they are in good condition. could possible be cut out and reused.

  10. So Ive had my 350Z 2 weeks and I grounded it on a dodgy ramp

    IMG_0233.jpg

    IMG_0235.jpg

Since then its been blowing and sounds like I have put a straight through exhaust. Would be nice but its taught me that I couldn't live with a really loud system every day.

The swines at Nissan said the central supports have been ripped of and the joint is damaged in the center section. They say I have to replace everything past the Y-piece for the princely sum of £700! (They would say that)

I don't believe and think it can be repaired, or just replace the center section. Will go somewhere else tomorrow so I can see the damage myself.

    So, my options are:

1: Braze and repair (my contain duct tape), but may not be possible or a long term solution

2: Fit an OEM system at stupid money

3: replace the center section only

4: replace with a scorpion system and be quids in with a better sound

5: buy a 2nd hand exhaust off the forum

    6: mystery custom option

If I get a different exhaust it can't be too loud at idle and around town, but would be nice if it growls when the pedal is applied to the metal.

anybody have parts I might be interested in or other suggestions on system to go for?

Note: Rochford council will be getting angry letter about their crappy round

  11. Hi Everyone!

My names Chris and I'm living in Essex at the moment working for a major motor manufacturer. I've been hanging onto my last car until I was 25 and could get something exciting. Recently test drove E46 M3, Boxster, S2000, RX8 and 330ci but none of them had the right balance of price, performance, practicality looks.

I've recently sold my Astra Coupe, Pictured below driving round a German toll road

    IMG_0507.jpg

And I've bought a fully loaded completely standard 350Z!

    P1080891.jpg

Only problem is now I cant fit this in my car :(

    IMG_6155-1.jpg

    Any who...

I love my new car already and I'm busy making it perfect.

First on the list is new discs and pads all round

Then it needs new FEAD belts

I'm tempted to get a new Intake system, for a bit more performance and theater

Bonnet and front bumper need to be resprayed

    Wheels could do with refurbishment

Oh and then need to find a good bike rack.

I'm planning on doing the odd track day and going back to the ring this year.

Dose anyone have advice on brakes for occasional track use at a reasonable price?

and any opinions on air intakes, thinking K&N Typhoon

Also I have heard the brakes over heat on track, so doing research now to see how bad the problem is and simple brake cooling solutions

    Here from you all soon!
