  1. Shame the Zed didn't work out for you, it did look stunning, but then again the 500 looks the bollocks too and certainly delivers a lot of bang for your buck.

As a matter of interest, how did the Zed sale go, did it go privately (where did you advertise/which advert attracted the sale), did you get a decent price (do you mind disclosing the figure). Just interested in people's experience in selling a car such as a Zed.

I sold it privately, and I lost about £2k on it - January is not the best time of year to sell a car! However I got an amazing deal on the 500, so it all worked out OK. The first person to see it bought it immediately.

I knew people would say I didn't do my research. You can be sure I did, but ultimately I decided I preferred nice holidays to a nice car. I just didn't love it enough.

Oh and the 500 is BRILLIANT, it's so chuckable and cheeeeeaaaap to run!

  2. I loved my 370, but after just 6 months I decided it wasn't for me I'm afraid...

I never really got to use the power of it, I hardly drove it, I found it hard to park (being a woman!) - and I decided I didn't love it enough to fork out for 4 new tyres in one go. And road tax. Even on my tiny mileage, £100 to fill the tank HURT! I did know about the running costs before I bought one, but decided I'd rather spend my cash on holidays instead.

So I'm now the proud owner of this:

It's an Abarth 500 Esseesse. Cheap to run, quick, so easy to park and SUCH fun to drive!

The 370 was awesome but now I'll just admire them from afar...thanks for the help and advice on here :)

  3. Update. They still have no idea why it's going off, but they seem to think that fixing the bootlid has sorted the problem.

I'm not so sure, because if the bootlid was the problem, why does the alarm only go off when it's parked on my drive?

I'm picking it up tomorrow, so we shall see.

To be honest, if it does go off again I'll sell it. I can't be arsed with a car that has to keep going to the dealers, I had enough of that with Renaults.

    Fingers crossed!

  4. Well it's been at the dealers for two days now, and they still don't know what's wrong! Initially they couldn't get their diagnostic computer to connect to my car, when they finally did, it reported no faults.

They've told me that they're now leaving it on a sloping ramp to see if the alarm goes off.

In the meantime, I'm driving round in a Qashqai B)

On the bright side, they've fixed the sticky bootlid.

  5. Put it in gear so it stops agains the gearbox, then put the handbrake on and see if that solves it?

Have you tried disabling the tilt/ultrasonics yet?

Yeah I could try leaving it in gear. Nope, not tried disabling the ultrasonics yet. It's going to the dealers on Tues so I'll leave them to work it out I think!

The thing is, it goes for days without doing it...then suddenly it went off twice last night. 4am wake up, awesome

Do you live near one of these?

    Ha, no!

Is happening when the air is still, or at least no appreciable wind blowing?

It's never been especially windy. What's even stranger is that last week there was TORRENTIAL rain one night, the hardest rain I've seen in ages. It woke us up, and it set a couple of car alarms off down the street....but not mine

  6. I think I've figured out why it's doing it. I think it's because sometimes I don't put the handbrake on tightly enough, and it moves just a tiny bit, setting off the alarm.

That explains why it doesn't do it on level ground.

I'm still going to take it into Nissan to double-check though, and I might as well get the sticky boot lid fixed and get them to activate the anti-intruder thing.

  7. Thanks Chris, will give that a try..

How soon after you've left the car does the alarm sound?

It varies. Usually quite a long time, and very randomly.

Last week it did it twice in one night, then there was nothing for a few days. It's odd that it's only at home.

I've got it booked in for next Tues, and I'll get the boot catch sorted as well. I also want them to activate the anti-intruder function, because they didn't/couldn't do it last time I asked.

  8. Grrrr, my alarm keeps going off, but strangely only when the car is parked at home.

My drive is slightly sloped, so could this be the tilt sensor being a bit over-sensitive?

Time to give the dealer a call I guess.

I want the sticky boot catch fixed anyway.

  9. ^ let me know how you get on.

I'm interested in either Falken 452s or Vreds, and I will need all four replacing at the same time, so I don't want to have to remortgage the house.

  10. You might find this thread interesting Number86, lots of views on why the 370Z hasn't sold so well....

    http://www.pistonheads.co.uk/gassing/to ... z%20worked?

I've just read through that entire topic, people have come out with some right @*!#! Fair enough if you don't like the looks, but how can people say it has a crap interior? The interior is gorgeous.

Someone said they've never seen a woman driving one. Well I do - and it's mine! B)

I think it's a badge thing, nothing more.

For me, it's an awesome car for the price. I do think the guy who thinks he'll pick up a 3-year-old 370 for 16k is dreaming though.
