  1. I bet that's louder than the video shows Sounds nice though Yea, I have a Milltek which is about the same as a Nismo in terms of volume, and with Berks as well it is about as loud as I want it. Any louder and I think I'd be getting polite words from the neighbours/look like a knob. From the exhausts I've heard (on all cars not just zeds), I can't honestly say I've ever noticed decats to make a nicer noise, they just seem to make it louder and raspier. My vote goes for the HFCs to save you the ballache come MOT time. DB
  2. hmmm, seems odd that you can't get anything much lighter than that. I remember wondering how the hell they managed to make them so damn heavy in the first place when I was taking them out. I suppose it depends on how much adjustability/comfort you're willing to sacrifice, and how much carbon fibre you're willing to pay for. DB
  3. If you open the door and look at the door shut area, there's a square loop that the door catch latches onto. Someone may have put these loops back on too far out, as they do have a little wiggle room in them. I'd take it back to the bodyshop and tell them to sort it out, really isn't rocket science to put a door on straight. DB
  4. Well.... Budget I would say is at £7500 maybe £8000 for the right example, will keep trying to add to this the longer I'm looking. As for model for the money I think I will try and get a decent mileage 54 - 55 reg UK with GT pack. Think first choice is azure blue (it is azure isn't it? With black leather, the. Closely followed by either a gray or black with orange leather. To be honest I've already been eying up one for sale on here, "coupe". But if I was the seller I wouldn't drop down £1k so that one is out of reach for now unless price drops and I find a bit more money. Ahh I see. Thats a good budget for what your looking for. Yes its azure but most models seem to come with orange leather. Not having the orange leather is usually rare, but black seats come up for sale now and again. I must be having a brain fail, sounds like you're saying that most Azure cars have orange leather. I was under the impression that you couldn't spec Alezan leather on an Azure car. I've certainly never seen that combo. DB
  5. Assuming you mean the heated electric leather ones, I recall from somewhere they're a little north of 20kg, which I can well believe having taken mine out to do some sound proofing. They are not light. DB
  6. Given the general nature of the crime you've described in your area, i'm not sure the sticker is such a good idea. If there was a massive problem with stolen-to-order or something then it might be an effective deterrent, but it's not going to stop someone taking an angle grinder to your cats ( poor kitties) and it's unlikely to stop some little scrote caving in your window in search of spare change. I think all it will really do is sit there glowing and drawing attention to the car, which may not be the effect you're after. DB
  7. http://liljerk.morpheus.net/350Z/front_speakers/ There you go, you want from step 9 (everything is the wrong way round because the guy is American, but it's all the same) That should give you an idea of how it all goes together so you can figure out what the issue is. DB
  8. There is a guide floating around on the interweb on how to disassemble the door trims, have a look and you'll find it. From what i remember from stripping down my doors, the silver insert does just clip into place, so that's not a problem, but if the handle now feels loose you may have damaged one of the two screws that hold the handle onto the door, or damaged the handle itself where the screws attach. Best to strip it down and have a look to see what's broke. Word of warning; there's no point in trying to do this unless you have a long skinny socket wrench set to get to said screws. Best of luck DB
  9. for interior bits and bobs, he usually has anything you could want kicking around. DB
  10. As a rule, yes. It just gets used as/contributes towards the deposit value. The only potential problem could be if the PCP Ts&Cs state a maximum deposit (which some do, so you have to pay them more interest over the term) which is smaller than the value of the car. DB
  11. The GTM kit is bolt-on, the instructions are good and they send you an Uprev map to install yourself once you've sent them the diagnostics.... it obviously won't be as good as getting a decent uprev on a dyno though. Man, I really failed at expressing myself last night, lol. Yes, the GTM kit is bolt on, but I wouldn't really put it in the same class as the vortech price-wise is what I meant. Vortechs are dirt-cheap, but the cheapest bolt-on kit from GTM is the best part of £4,500 before you pay any shipping, import tax or VAT on it. I expect you'd be looking at around £6,000 for the kit to your door, but it seems to be worth the extra money if you can afford it. With the numbers that people have got out of this kit I can't see why you'd buy a TT kit anymore unless you'r after truly stupid power. A note on the GTM uprev maps; initially they only intended them to be a safe-ish map to get the car to a tuner, but some people (Americans) didn't realise this and there were quite a few problems with cars running like crap and/or breaking down when run long-term on the base maps. I don't know whether this problem still exists or whether they have improved the base map, but personally I'd want to have such a high-power car running on a custom tune specific to that engine, but maybe I'm over-cautious. DB
  12. Just a heads-up; my computer has just been ransacked by a particularly vicious piece of Threatware that I strongly suspect came from the Pistonheads forum area. I don't know which thread specifically but it was the only active browser window open at the time so it's the only real possible source. This was a real doozy; it took my very butch and very up-to-date protection software, bent it over and gave it a thorough seeing-to with no warning what so ever. Subsequent scans have not revealed anything so I'm guessing this is a zero-day piece of software that nothing is picking up yet. Hopefully the Mods will forgive the reference to another forum, but I figured in the context this would be OK, and I know there are a lot of Pistonheads members on here as well. DB

Supercharger search: search.php?keywords=Supercharger&terms=all&author=&sc=1&sf=titleonly&sk=t&sd=d&sr=topics&st=0&ch=300&t=0&submit=Search Turbo search: search.php?keywords=Turbo&terms=all&author=&sc=1&sf=titleonly&sk=t&sd=d&sr=topics&st=0&ch=300&t=0&submit=Search There, I saved you thirty seconds of your life. DB To be fair Danny the lads asking if there are any for sale not for info about them. Are you looking for the full shebang or are you sourcing the other bits that you need separately? Agreed, but what I was attempting (through the fog of 5 hours sleep in the last three days) was to get across that there is no real vortech-stylee 'bolt-on' (specified by OP) option for the VQ35HR, and as such it would be a very good idea to work out what would fulfill the requirements of his build before just buying whatever kit happened to be available. In an attempt to actually be helpful instead of ranting: Single turbo on the dual intake HR engine would be silly and as far as I know thay don't exist. For 400bhp you'll be looking at a mild twin-turbo build (several options there) or a GTM rotrex supercharger kit (expensive). Both can be supplied and fitted by Abbey Motorsport, who are a trader on here. DB

  15. FFS This place is turning into that US forum that we all know and hate. Is it really so hard to look through the million and one threads already in existence across many forums about forced induction options? The fact that you've not even decided on turbo or SC makes me sceptical that you've got a specific kit in mind, which further casts doubt that you have the remotest clue what you'd be getting youself in for by going for forced induction. FI on Zeds is not easy or cheap. In fact that rule applies to upgrading the power full stop. DB
  16. Spot on. Oddly for a model-specific forum, this one seems to love under-valuing its cars for some reason. I think a lot of it is that the difference between the average price and the lowest price you can possibly find isn't always acknowledged. Given the current climate of hard times and high fuel and insurance costs I think more people are wanting to get shot of thirsty cars quickly because the running costs are killing them and they don't want to keep paying them for a month or two before it sells. This means that there are a number of unusually cheap cars popping up, but I have to say that the average prices haven't gone down all that much since I got mine 13 months ago. This implied rule (not referencing any particular members here, it seems to be a group function that we all contribute to) of 'I've found a 2007 313 with X miles on it for £9k therefore all 2007 313s with X miles on should be £9k' isn't really true. If the number of low priced quick sales continues increasing then it may force overall prices down faster, but I don't think we're there yet. DB
  17. Just had a look at that website, and it seems that they focus on chip-tuning. I'd question why no-one else claims to be able to chip-tune a 350z and yet these guys do (presumably you've been told that they can?). UpRev works by actually sort of hacking into the ECU and changing the base map that the car thinks is normal it doesn't add any hardware at all. Chips and piggybacks work by messing around with the input/output signals of the ECU to get it to do something different to what it's trying to. I'd do a LOT of research before using anything other than UpRev or a well-known piggback ECU like Haltech because i can't help feeling that if there was a decent alternative to UpRev there would probably be people using it. DB
  18. Given your previous substantial thread commenting on your disappointing dyno result, I'm not entirely sure why you'd be surprised. Kinda like 'I know my car is down on power, but why is it slow?' Even a healthy DE engined Zed wouldn't have that much over a 20v turbo. DB
  19. Let the flaming commence.... DB
  20. Not sure why people are getting excited about this one, am I missing something? It's a single turbo kit of unspecified unbranded origin that looks like it was birthed in the depths of some guy's shed with no pics of it actually attached to a 350z and no engine management. You wouldn't want to exceed 400/400 on a stock block anyway, and so far even well designed and made single turbo kits all suffer from substantial lag until about 3k/3.5k. A massive pair of balls and a second mortgage for when it lunches your engine. DB
  21. Good to see someone with a good idea of what they want and a realistic healthy budget That GT4 looks like a really good buy if you plan to keep it stock. If you hang on to those GT4 wheels when you stick some black ones one you'll be able to return it to stock GT4 form if you ever want to sell it on, which will raise the value slightly. DB
  22. Seriously, did you even think about that for half a second before you went into Daily Mail mode? So the night before the performance which could give you the chance to win a medal at your home Olympics, probably the defining moment of your entire career, you'd be staying up until 2am to participate in an essentially decorative ceremony would you? I'm sure they wanted to be there, hell what athlete wouldn't want to walk into an Olympic stadium for there country, but when it's going to jeapordise your performance why would you risk it? And as has already been mentioned I'd bet their coaches wouldn't have let then even if they'd tried. DB
  23. Danny Boyle. Legend. That was such a well designed show. We were never going to beat Beijing on scale, but that was a clever and meaningful performance as opposed to the 4 hours of willy-waving we got from the Chinese. Kind of: "Yes you can do a big opening ceremony, but we did just about everything else in history" Not sure how people think that was pandering to a hollywood view of Britain I really liked the fact that there was a lot of british humour in there, and quite a few references that I doubt many foreigners would have got. It seemed to be pitched mainly to the British people to me. Damn good job all involved DB
  24. Pretty close http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/ ... ?logcode=p Not a real GT spec, look at the steering wheel, and the interior looks in shocking nick. Sure you'll be able to find the odd rough UK car within budget, but I would have thought that at 6K looking for a good import will be a better bet. DB
  25. Yea, this is going to be a very busy thread I think... Can't beat showing the South Korean flag for the North Korean football team. I mean you couldn't dream up a more offensive mix-up if you tried DB
