  1. Has anyone actually got a set of winters for their 370Z?? I couldn't locate the right sizes (think it was the profile of the rears that was out).

I've spent hours trying to source winters for my 370 but gave up. Dunlop do have a winter tyre but theyre over £350 quid a pop. The Bridgstones are rock solid below 5C and hate standing water. My 1.4 Mito is quicker/safer than the Z in the cold!

  2. I was told a few years ago by a really good bodyshop that because you have to use a different primer on plastic,ie bumpers, to that on metal you cannot get an exact paint match, its something that even manufactures struggle to get right. If you park under a flourescent street light you can see the difference between plastic and metal.

See now this I have never understood. If the primer is different then why cant they compensate the paint make up to make it match?

I heard it was due to them being sprayed in isolation and the way the flecks sit in the paint. On the main body the car is sprayed from one angle and on the bumpers/sills a different angle. When you put them together they reflect the light differently which gives different shades. This makes more sense to me

For the kind of money we pay for our Zs I don't think a good match is too much to ask! I look at other white cars and I don't see this problem. If end up getting mine done (probably after Christmas) I'll post some pics.

    Hi.

My GTR was white and I was never totally happy with the bumper colour match. Nissan resprayed both under warranty without too much pressure.

  3. hey waltong - where's that sound clip you promised us ?

Sorry. A manic week at work. The sun is due to shine tomorrow, camcorder charged. :-)

Clip below. Not the best but I'll have a proper drive by one done by tomorrow.

    Hi Waltong

Sounds great - I am thinking of getting this system. Would you say it's a good system for someone who wants the car to have a bit more growl but nothing too mental? I definitely do not want something that sounds too 'boomy' or constantly very loud under normal driving conditions (I live in a quiet road and value my good relations with the neighbours ) I just want something that sounds a bit more sporty that the stock.

    Hi mate.

If you purchase the rear box only you'll get a very modest increase in noise. Probably what you would have wanted from a standard exhaust but you get the nice tail pipes. The full cat back is very sensible at 3000 rpm and below but livens up dramatically from 4000rpm. It's all very good inside the cabin, never intrudes to be honset.

  5. Just dropped my 350 in for service at Colliers Birmingham. They had the same Gt edition in white in centre of the showroom, was a little unsure of the 370 when it first appeared but definately warming to them. Looked awesome (albeit a little small alongside a GTR!). Will have to wait to see where prices are in a couple of years but definately the one to have. Congrats

    Hi mate.

My 370 replaced my GTR and its smaller size is its greatest asset :-) The GTR is an awesome beast but one hell of a bugger to park! It's a bit too wide and long in my opinion. I miss the horses though!

So why the change - GTR to 370?

£36,000 difference in ticket price would be a start!!!

I've moved jobs so a regular 50mile commute and lack of decent size parking space was one reason. The upkeep was another, 6 monthly services at £500 a pop and tyres at £400 each. It's a great value car but Ferrari money to keep in on the road. I may have less horses now but I wont be viewing every car as a potential burn up now!

  7. I've been up to my dealer today for a play in their demo - my car is sat on the forecourt ready to go as well !! :yahoo: ..but as mentioned before I can't have her till 7th October

looking forward to your pics - I think you said it was in white IIRC

That must be a nightmare! Yep Storm White. I'll get some photos up over the weekend. Got the new exhaust booked for 26th :teeth:

  8. Collecting the car on Saturday. :yahoo: I'll post up some pics as soon as I run out of fuel!

    That'll be mid-morning then :teeth: .

    Look forward to seeing it.

    I'll deffo last beyond that...............I can't have her till 4pm!! :)

Having a bit of Ventureshield put on the front.

  9. well finally found a dealer who knew about the GT Edition - apparently they are not available until July

but can take orders about a week before - price starting at £35 K :scare:

If they wont talk discounts walk away. You should be looking to get £3K off list even if it's a car spec'd to order. Plenty of car brokers will do the work for you but why give them £400. I'm ordering mine next month, if I find a hungry dealer I'll let you know :)

  10. I still reckon you'll be able to knock 3-4K off that price without too much bother. Hopefully the ride and cabin improvements will be good news.

Not so sure unless they are already building them. If built to order they wont drop that much. Its only if they are sitting on forecourts that they'll drop the price to shift it.

Broadspeed (dirty word but they do work) reckon they can get 10% off any Z. I'm not a fan of using a third party to negotiate my car buying but they got an amazing deal from Porsche that no local dealer would match.

  11. Go faster stripes  just a shame the Nismo version is not coming over this side of the pond.

And I agree, its a sports car for Gods sake so why not use some decent colours.

And no mention of its achilles heel - the poor sounding standard exhaust.

Certainly not for me at £35k

  12. GT Edition will be available in the UK. Dealers got the info packs yesterday and press release (to public) will be out today or tomorrow. The source of this information is the one who will be issuing the press release ;) Not allowed to be told any more until the press release is out (that means I know no more)

Nissan GB just called to say they've just been told of the new model! The chap has promised to e mail a copy of the revised spec and prices. available to order on the system from 1/7.

Thanks for your help, I'm gonna wait. :)

  13. Another Nissan classic!

My dealer phones me today and says YES the GT Edition will be announced in a day or two.

Five minutes late I get an e mail from Nissan GB customer services thanking me for my e mail about the GT Edition and saying there are NO current plans to sell the GT Edition in the UK!!

I wonder who is right? Answers on a postcard!
