  1. Will research - but the car can drive fine without them. There will be a light that comes on on the dash. If they are not present the car will not comply with the EU regulations, but not sure if that makes the car unroadworthy / not insured...

     

    The final bill looks to be close to £2.5k for the sensors, hinges and the rest of the stuff.

     

    Not impressed.

  2. Hi,

     

    So I had a minor ding last night which caused the actuators under the hood to fire as part of the pedestrian safety mechanism and popped the hood.

     

    As I understand it from doing some reading these are one time use and will need to be replaced with a whole bunch of other things (front sensors, left and right hinges and the actuators themselves).

     

    As there is no other damage except for a slightly scuffed left front alloy this is rather annoying but oh well.

     

    I'm debating if I should put in an insurance claim or fix it myself. Does anyone have experience with these actuators and how much they cost to replace?

     

    Any input much appreciated!
