  1. My neighbour has one which I've sat in and had a nosey round. Like most people I really like the looks apart from the corporate nose. The interior I thought was high qaulity, a very nice place to be. It'll be marmite to some but the faux leather dash really appealled to me.

There is some sort of higher spec model now which comes in white with stripes down the doors, blacks alloys and the 4 exhuasts you mention, looks brilliant. Would like to drive one some day.

  2. Nice vid mate, had to laugh at the guy 'thrusting' in the background toward the end of your run!

Good to have met you yesterday, sorry I couldn't hang around longer, cheers for showing me round your zed.

Any chance you'll be able to get the graph uploaded? I'll try and get mine scanned at work on Tuesday and post it up for comparison. Should be consistant, mine made 265bhp (about 10-15 below book) and yours was a similar margin.

Brief vid here of my car last time, taken by Mark from PH I think...

  3. What was it like for noise on long journey's / motorway cruising speeds compared with the standard exhaust? Can I ask why you're selling?

I'm certainly interested and having listened to a few youtube clips I really like the raspy howl but I'm always wary of ruining the cars good long distance cruising ability with a droning or boomy exhaust.

    Cheers

    Steven

  4. Sadly I can't make this either. I was at the last one a couple of months ago which was a good day.

I would like to go too as last time my zed made 265bhp although I was only running 95ron fuel at the time. I'd be interested to see what the difference would be between it and 98ron.

  5. Good points well made. After 10 years with a licence I passed the IAM test a couple of years back and now observe for the Aberdeen group.

Although this years 'intake' has passed I would be more than happy show anyone in the area what's involved if they're interested. Yes there's pull/push steering, parallel parking and hands at 10 and 2 required for test standard but the core skills of observation, anticipation and the system will improve fast road driving no ends :drive1:teeth:

    Cheers

  6. Looks like a great trip, really enjoyed the pictures. I've done a similar journey many years ago but was lucky enough to do it by boat, island hopping up the west coast and outer hebrides.

I couldn't see it clearly but is the RX8 from Oban? I've seen a red one around Oban before all stickered up LeMan style...

  7. I've aggravated an old back injury since getting my Zed in Feb which compounded by the lack of headroom making me stoop/slouch. Some research suggested the cloth seats would be lower than the leather due to the lack of electric motors etc so I bought a set from a nice chap on here to try.

Perhaps it has been covered on here before but I couldn't find any definitive answers. However having trial fitted them this afternoon, sadly I can confirm this is not true, there is no difference in height at all between the 2 seats.

Does anyone have any suggestions or recommendations of lower aftermarket seats before I consider the possibility that I might have to change the car?

    Cheers

    Steven

PS Got some cloth seats for sale now if anyone wants them!

  8. The '54 GM was me mate, is it sad I came on here not long after to see if I'd been 'spotted'?! haha :p

Sorry couldn't make it for a meet today, I was required elsewhere this morning. Did you go fir drive over the cairn-o-mount? Still not done that pass in the zed, great road, must do that early one Sunday!

    Cheers

    Steve

  9. It's unlikely that I'll make this Sunday but I'll keep an eye on this thread to see what's been organised.

Most other weekends I'm free though and would really like to see some other zeds upclose. Particularly interested to see/hear some aftermarket exhausts!

  10. Yup, definately up for this. Been on a couple of local PistonHead's hoons this year but the only zed attendee so far!

Not sure if everyone would agree but I find early start times more agreeable with SWMBO... meet, natter, drive, coffee/bacon softies/more chat, drive back, home in time for lunch. I'm free most weekends (apart from this one coming).

Look forward to something being arranged, happy to help if I can although I'm not too familiar with Aberdeen yet so probably best keep me away from any route planning!!

  11. Sorry to hijack the thread but I would be very interested in these seats...

I've GT leather in mine but I've got quite a long back and struggling to get comfortable with headroom. Can anyone confirm the cloth seats are indeed slightly lower than the leather/electric seats? If so by how much? And does anyone know if I can fit seats from a newer car into a '54 zed without issue?

    Many thanks

    Steve

  12. Great pictures, I recognise the road to Ullapool although I haven't been across that way for many years.

I like that R32 very much indeed B) One of these was next on my list if I hadn't found my zed locally. Have you had a chance to drive it? How does the performance/handling compare to the Nissan?

  13. Just a brief update with a (poor) pic after a wash n wax the other week.

Here she is on the rollers at a pistonhead day out in March, running 95ron fuel it made 265bhp and 250lb/ft which I was pleased with. I believe the road at Wallace to give pretty conservative figures so that would indicate the engine was spot on. I'll try and get the graphs scanned at work tomorrow.

The guys at Clark Motorsport worked their magic on the geometry today as I found the car was tramlining and bump steering quite a bit over rough tarmac. Rear right toe was out by almost 0.4deg. With everything now back within tolerances the car drives beautifully, so straight and true. It's also quite noticeably reduced tyre noise from the rear as I guess it's not 'dragging' the wheel anymore. Again I'll try and scan the graphs for those who are interested.

With power and handling both now as they should be I just need to turn my attention to some smaller details like stubby aerial, silver indicator bulbs, a tiny dent in the passenger door and a refurb of the front wheels. By that time it'll be ready for a 45k service!

  14. Well the plate transfer took ages as expected but then the dealer lost the V5 which was compounded by a host of other very poor service issues. This really put me off the car but after some "soul searching" (as a friend put it) I stuck with it and eventually the dealer came through (with a discount) and I collected the car Monday evening.

Not had time to get it onto decent roads yet but just loving the experience that every drive brings. That engine is a peach and the exhaust note is near perfection. I'm driving everywhere with the window down!

I'd post some pics but it's just a standard Grey GT and I'm sure you all know what they look like!!

Saw 2 other zeds in Aberdeen today, both of whom waved which I was dead chuffed at. Cheers if it was anyone on here!

My only slight niggle, and it is slight, is the volume of the parking sensors which is ear splitting. Does anyone know if it's it possible to turn these down at all?

  15. Interesting to hear the comments on the Aberdeen branch, I've a deposit on one of the 350z's there at the moment and so far the service has been a joke. The initial test drive was fine, the salesman obviously a jap car enthusiast but from there on it's been downhill.

I had to phone numerous times over the past 3 days just to find out what was going on and when I could expect to collect the car. No one returned my call, not even once until today when I had to start complaining just to get a response.

They should be keen for my custom... I have (some!) money, I want to buy a car. If it were my business I'd be bending over backwards to complete the sale in a professional manner.

Really not impressed and certainly wouldn't recommend based on my experience so far.

  16. Afternoon gents (and ladies!)

Just signed up here, been lurking for a few weeks hoovering up the vast amounts of info in anticpation of my first 350.

I placed a deposit on a 54 plate gun metal GT last weekend. It's from a Nissan dealership so I've probably paid over the odds but I've no car at present so travelling around is difficult plus it was top spec, low miles (40k on a MY54 I think isn't too bad?), very local with 3 month warranty and appears to have a good service history which includes fixing of most of the common faults (drop links etc).

I've been driving diesel company cars for the past few years after a long line of warm/hot cars from the VW group, the highlight probably being a Mk1 Octavia vRS with a few tuning bits which I really loved, so can't wait to enjoy my first proper sports car.

I will admit that heart overtook head when I test drove the Zed. I was so impressed with how effortless it was to cruise about in, the torque range is fantastic and that noise.... what can you say!

I'm based in Aberdeen, would anyone here know of the car in question??).

What's frustrating now is waiting for the dealer to remove the previous owners private plate meaning I can't pick it up until late next week!!

I'm quite often down near the central belt and across to the west coast so hoping to make a couple of meets/hoons through the summer.

    Cheers for now

    Steve
