  1. Sorry for bumping an old thread but this seemed like the best place. I have recently bought a Z with a 6 month warranty with mb&g. I have noticed a rattle from the front suspension which searches reveal indicates. Possible problem with the ball joint on the banana bar (?). Is there any point trying to go throught the warranty process? The booklet does not list as suspension as being excluded, just exhausts tyres etc. I don't even know how you are supposed to go about claiming, I assume ringing the administrator number that is listed and taking it from there, but if there is no chance of it being approved I would rather not waste a trusted local garages time (I would not use Nissan as I assume they exceed the maximum £60 ph labour charge). Anyone have any experience with this warranty company? Thanks.
  2. So boot floor does not require any trim removal?
  3. What is the procedure for applying this in the boot then? Remove spare wheel etc and cover the whole of that reccess? Is there any trim removal etc required to do the boot? Easy 1hr job? Im quite tempted to do this but dont want to **** anything up whilst attempting it!
  4. Heh, thanks for all the replys guys. So this is normal? Well I guess that's a relief!
  5. Hi all the exhaust on my newly aquired Zed is slightly wonky, The right pipe seems to be closer to flush with the rear bumper than the left side. Assuming this is not by design, can anyone advise on what may be causing it? There does not seem to be any damage on the pipes as they exit the back box and juggling the rhs mount does not seem to make any difference. If anyone has experience of this their views would be appreciated. Also, which of the two is wrong? Should they be near flush with the rear bumper or set back a few cms? It's a stick uk set up btw. Thanks!
  6. I had a 280bhp s14a 200sx about a year ago. I have only had my Z for 4 days. The turbo certainly provides a lot of punch in the back due to the way there is a swell of power, but the Z not only feels fast but also proves to be travelling faster than it is. The sound and progressive power delivery also encourages mento rev it more than I did the 200sx (I used to find it quite unrewarding over 5000rpms). Not stritly related to your question, but the all round package of the Z also gives me more confidence to exploit the engine ie ride, brakes etc. And of course it picks up beautifully in any gear...
  7. Hoping to get some today if the weather is sunny. It is a completely standard gunmetal example with rays alloys though
  8. Promising so many of you are finding it your longest car owning experience. I have promissed my poor gf that this will be the last change of car for some time. The last car I did not want to part with (but had to due to dramatic engine failure) was my 1st Nissan 200sx.... I'm such a brand whore!
  9. Only had it two days but it is rapidly becoming my favourite car I have ever owned! It's so comfy on a longer journey and you can get you arse warmed whilst wafting along at good speeds. Then you encounter twisty b roads and it's just as acomplished, somehow hiding it's weight and offering a lovely snickity shift. And the brakes give such confidence. I am babbling a touch, but it's such an all round package, aural, dynamicaly and gadget wise. What a good, good car. Truly stirs the emotions. So to make this a topic, how did you feel after purchasing your Z? And how do you feel X amount of time later? I should add this is not my 1st quick car. I have owned imprezas, 200sx's and a Prelude (!), but none come close to being such a good package. Shame the Bose skips mind
  10. Thanks for that. There is already one installed that's dangling from the head lining. I'm guessing it's wired in to the original stereo but I'm not sure how yet as I have not removed anything. The car has a second phone cradle in it (standard type)... It's all a bit confusing!
  11. Thanks again for the replys. So how would you put the mic up by the mirror in 5 minutes just out of interest?
  12. Just read the guide on your install btw, nicely documented. The kenwood only has 2.5v pre outs so i wonder if i will be in the "not loud enough" camp come the end....
  13. Thanks for the replys, will do some reading on those topics. There are head units with integrated mic - i have been looking at the Kenwood BT6544u single din system. You are right about the mic position, thats why i was interested to hear if anyone is using one with good results.
  14. Hi all I was wondering if anyone could reccomend a head unit for under £250 that has the following- Bluetooth hands free built in mic ability to connect to Bose amp/ sub USB connectivity most of that is standard fair but the inbuilt mic bit is what I am struggling with. I don't want to start running additional wiring for the mic, so if there are any out there that have it integrated and work well it would be a massive plus! I know there are also additional leads required. Thanks chaps!
  15. Yep, it clicked straight after I asked... Doh! Edit - after I asked the dealer, not here
  16. Thats really kind, thanks very much
  17. How much are you selling them for? Not sure I can afford one this month mind, what with the new car and all
  18. Oh dear... Think I will stand aside for this one!
  19. Salisbury in wiltshire. I think i might see if anyone wants to loan me one for a tenner.... its money well spent either way as i can trial- 1 if it works 2 if the volume levels are acceptable to me the irony is i really dont need this feature - i just love gadgets, and if the potential is there to have it working I HAVE TO HAVE IT WORKING
  20. Thanks for the reply (again). That's the strange thing though, the second cradle that's been fitted is identical to the standard one! Maybe they did not realise there was one already there.... The additional one Is deffinately wired in... As long as though one of the works properly I will be happy, I just don't want to spend £90 odd on something that might not be hooked up right. Having said that I could probably sell the Bluetooth module on again for a minimal loss.
  21. Oh I fully intend to! Going to have to wait until the greasy conditins calm a bit mind, don't want to test out the ESP just yet! I love the composure at higher speeds, I can see myself getting in to trouble if I don't keep an eye on that speedo... And yes GM is rather splendid I think Oh, and i stilll managed to humilliate myself somewhat by 1. not being able to start the car (did not know you had to depress clutch) 2. asking where the cd changer was located
  22. So I picked up a 55 uk Z today. So far all seems well save for a flashing air bag light that the dealer is helping me get sorted next Friday. One strange addition is that the car has 2 phone cradles, one in the normal place and one adhered to the left of the stereo. The cradle is hard wired in and appears to have an additional mic. That comes through where the map lights are. I am guessing this may be for improved clarity over the STD system that I gather is hard for people to hear. I really don't want to start ripping anything out (I always **** it up) and so was wondering what peoples views are on the likelihood of at least one of these two systems working if I purchas a BT module? For starters, is it possible that both set ups are connected to the speakers and steering wheel controls, or is it more likely the STD cradle is disconnected and the additional one will work only using the alternative mic? I know it's not much to go on, but if any of you have amy thoughts it would be great! Just to clarify, both cradles are the STD design. Thanks for reading
  23. Well guys I picked up my Z today! All happened so quickly I'm kind of shell shocked. The dealer (top bloke, proper piston head) was happy to give me the money I asked for my cooper s meaning I drove away with the following: 55 plate UK GT with 65,000 miles in Gunmetal with the rays alloys (in magnificent condition). The drive home was an enjoyable one, with me giggling at the engine note at every opportunity. It really seems to drive magnificently and I am delighted with the gear change and all the lovely toys that come with it. Now I have to nonchenantley turn up at work tomorrow, trying to act casual whilst not cocking up the reversing manouvre when I park... Maybe I will turn up 15 minutes earlier! Anyway, I will be spending most of my life here now as I love good owners clubs (previous a big user of the SXOC), and this one seems to have a great spirit. So really just a thank you for all the kind welcomes you have given me. Andy
