  1. 3FIDDYZ, The stock ones can be regassed to a max of 1200N.

After the regas the date and pressure are stamped on to the struts and they come with a guarantee. So if the regas fails within the warranty period (2 years think) they will discount the cost of the regas against new struts which are £65 from memory. When they receive the struts they give them a health check to ensure they are fit for regas if not they will contact you to see if you would like new struts attached to the nissan fixings or have them sent back to you.

In my case they were turned around within 3 days of me sending them. It's win win as far as I can see.

  2. I have the Nismo V2 spoiler fitted to my car and even with the balast weight removed the boot would not pop open when you press the button or stay up when open. I asked on here if anyone knew a solution and the general answer was to buy uprated gas struts from the US for around £120. Well after a little research I can now advise a much cheaper solution which is to have your original struts re-gassed for only £35 here in the UK.

All you have to do is remove the original struts and send them to SGS Engineering (address below), state you would like your struts re-gassd to 700N (originally 400N from the factory) and supply a contact number and return address. When they have completed the regas and tested them they will contact you for payment then return the struts the following day. Easy.

To remove the struts you will need a 10mm socket and 12mm spanner. The top bolts can be a bit of a bugger to remove so you have to ensure the 12mm spanner is tight in against the bolt to stop it from turning the edges off the hex.

My boot now pops open and with a small push will lift and stay up itself.

  3. Hello All,

My JDM came with the nismo V2 spoiler fitted. Great but because of the extra weight the boot won't pop open when I press the button or stay open when it's up, it's a massive pain in the arse. Does anyone know of any solutions or better gas struts that can be fitted.

I've heard that there is a ballast in the boot lid for cars that come without the factory spoiler, I've had a look but can't see anything?

  4. I have successfully installed freeview in my car. I can pick up as many channels as I can in the house and the picture is perfect even on the move. My install involved fitting a new 7" widescreen monitor into the cubby and the freeview box into the old nav dvd rom space. In total the whole install cost me less then £200 to do as I sourced and installed everything myself. Here's a pic of it in action at night.

  5. Give the guy a break, big deal he hit the limiter in first gear. The car is built for this sort of driving, though 6k is a better shift point in 1st. My zed is a tip auto and when I put my foot to the floor in auto mode it shifts up at 6k in 1st and 6.5k in 2nd and 3rd, the car is set up from the factory that way. If i am sitting at 60 on the motorway and put my foot down, the car will downshift to 3rd and head straight for the limiter.

It won't do it any harm if you occasionally hit it by accident after all that's why it's there, to prevent damage to the engine, just as long as you aren't driving about bouncing of the limiter all the time.

  6. I think the tip auto is great. Takes a bit of getting used to but when you do it's alot of fun. I'm planning to get a paddle shift kit soon, then perhaps in the future do the valve body upgrade when I'm feeling a bit more flush. I have a fujitsubo exhaust on my zed and although it's not the loudest it sounds awesome on full throttle plus there is no drone whatsoever on the motorway.

A well specced JDM can be a great bargain. I got mines a few months ago for £11.4k although that was a 52 plate. You would never know though when my private plate is on. The car is immaculate at 17k miles and has every specced option possible plus it came with a nismo V2 spoiler, nismo s-tune suspension and the fujitsubo exhaust, about £3k worth of extras.

  7. Mines is a JDM import and has recently gone through it's IVA test, replaced the SVA test. It's on the DVLA record as being 0g/km emmisions and 12 months road tax is only £190, RESULT!!! If I had bought it a month earlier it would have got a SVA test and the tax would have been in the £400 bracket.
