  1. Another thanks to Ross and the guys at Japex!

Had rear discs and pads fitted as well as the MOT and went as smooth as always.

    I wont use anyone else!

Also sorted out the corrosion on front discs for nowt. Stars.

  2. Just wanna post a massive thanks to Ross and the boys at Japex.

I recently had the worst nightmare you can have with my Zed.

A piston exploded and took it into Japex to have it looked at.

I knew it was gonna be bad news and was told the best thing for me to do would be to get a second hand engine!

I contacted the forums as you do and got put in touch with ZMANALEX who promptly found me a second hand engine. :pmzmanalex:

It was sent promptly and directly to Japex who then fitted it for me who spent ages testing and sorting it out.

I have to say that it was my 3rd time of using JAPEX and everything went completely smooth.

Ross even took pics of what was wrong and where (which wasnt nice to see but helpful and necessary).

So in summary Thanks to JAPEX for getting me back on the road. They even asked me to bring it back in for check overs, which is great customer service!

it will go back there fore my next service, and just fingers crossed the new engine is a goodun!

  3. Hello there. I currently have a dead engine in my 2006 350z.

I have been told by my independent garage that I can ONLY fit

an engine from the same year ie Rev-Up 2006.

Mine has been dead for 5 weeks now. Have just bought a

second hand engine which has now reached the garage.

I have been told by my garage that the engine

has been worked on before as he can tell by

The colour of the seals. As they are hard to come by

I am going to try it out in car first.

    Good luck friend.

  4. Im now buying a second hand engine through ZMANALEX and Ross at JAPEX is gonna fit it once it turns up.

Watching the sunny weekends disappear. Theres never a good time for an engine failure, on probably the only sunny days of the year it just feels worst.

  5. Thanks docwra. Will have a look. Its hard at work though.

Nothing Ive done to it apparently which is good to know. I guess.

No signs of lack of oil wear in engine at all.

    Just unlucky

  6. Thanks mate, thought I was invisible or something. OP seems to be good at asking for help but not great at reading the answers ...... ;):D

Sorry docwa, I am reading stuff when I can but I am at work and trying to find an engine.

The guys at JAPEX are really well known and respected on here and thats why my car is with them now.

I trust them when they say that the engine is gone.

When they explained it to me they said a hydraulic lifter has busted which then dropped the valve into the piston which in turn has cracked the head,

bent a rod that has spun down and taken out the bottom end also. There are 100s of pieces of metal in every orifice of the engine including where the oil runs.

Im not the best person to explain all this and I wish I was.

Thanks for helping though and I did run this with JAPEX and they said of course they would do this if it was possible.

Like I said they are well know on here and they want whats best for their customers.

    Ill keep looking.

  7. Sorry, Im just panicking. I respect all reply's.

Thank you all for you help.

Ive had a quote from motorsparess uk brakers website and the guy called me and said hes just had a 2006 written off car with a good engine thats done 41000 miles.

The quote was £3070 inc VAT and delivery to JAPEX.

3 months warranty but obviously no service paperwork.

    Any thoughts guys?

  8. Is there hardly anyone on these forums anymore

Or is my Please Help post not enough to entice people to look.

    Come on people.

Anyone got an idea where I can get a second hand engine?

  9. Not good news from JAPEX.

Ross thinks my engine is irreparable and I should go on a hunt for a re conditioned 2006 Rev up engine.

Can anyone help and have you got any ideas.

    Im in dire straights.

See pics of piston and valves below.

  10. It is definitely a broken valve guide as Ross sent me a picture of the guide.

I haven't heard anything back since that. It does state in the garages handbook

That it's about an 18 hour job to take all those bits apart.

Prob about £1800 so far if that is all that's wrong with it!

The wait is killing me. It's been tat the garage 10 days already

  11. If its the 2006 model wouldnt it be more to do with the oval cylinders and high oil usage rather than 95ron a few times.

Exactly. The 95 ron shouldnt be a big problem. I have been keeping an eye on oil, or so I thought knowing it was 2006 and doing extensive reading on the subject before buying it.

Maybe it just dipped that bit too low that one time or something.

  12. Hello there. I've had the car for 3 years now.

The first 2.5 years I have been higher grade only.

I have to admit this year with the fuel so high I have put 95 in quite a few times.

Do you think that could do it? I read that so many people use 95

    on here.

  13. Hello everyone, got some bad news. My Zed is dead.

Well it is at the moment. I broke down with a nasty tapping engine. :band:

Got it towed back to mine as there wasnt anything open at the time.

I have since had it towed to Japex in Kings Langley.

It is probably a couple of broken valve guides and possibly a couple of lifters.

Ross has already told me it is quite an extensive job but he wont be able to

take the head off till thursday.

Has anyone else had this problem and was it lack of oil that could have caused it?

I have had it serviced every 9000 miles without fail and have been a bit paranoid about oil

as its a 2006 and all. I feel I have tried to keep it topped up but am now worried that if I get it fixed

    will it just go again?

    Please help

  14. Hello everyone, just a quick message to praise the boys at Japex!

I had a new scorpion exhaust fitted there and went back again for my front brake pads to be fitted.

They do seem to care about your car being an independent and all. They give your motor a once over too.

Hello Ross, by the way do you do services, if so can you quote me on a P2 54,000 mile service please.

I also need quote on the set of belts being bought and fitted as you mentioned.

I also hear from the grapevine that a new set of spark plugs may be needed about now, any advice

I think you still have my details.

    Cheers.

    Gareth Ling.

  15. No not yet. I'm making calls at moment. Too busy in week at work to sort it unfortunately.

It seems that not a lot of garages near me do welding. One guy just told me he will look at it today but can't promise that it can be welded until he sees it. Fair enough. I'll let you know. I'm a bit slow on here I'm afraid.

  16. I'm in the Bromley area of the SE.

Again thanks for the help. And thanks for the pic Darren-B. It is on that flange. Isn't the one that joins the centre pipe a bit further on than the bit circled. But hey that's the bit. It's the back end of that flange. Can that area still be repaired?

  17. Hello Everyone, Im sure there are countless posts on here already regarding exhausts but not really got time to search too hard.

I just took my 56plate 350z into the stealers to have the exhaust checked as it was bellowing about 8 times louder than it should be.

They lifted it onto a ramp and showed me that the section where the centre part meets the Rear Silencers in broken.

They gave me a quote to replace both the Centre Exhaust and the Rear silencer at a whopping £778.04

Now Christmas is just around the corner with not much spare cash and family visits, I really need to get it sorted straight away.

Should I go for it or should I buy OEM parts elsewhere?

Or alternatively, get a better system somewhere else.

I dont want to shake the town down with a really loud one as I make quite a few longer journeys, plus, she wouldnt like it! :boxing:

Can I get aftermarket systems that are just the centre part and rear or is it always bets to replace the whole lot when changing exhaust systems.

Any advise from the boffins would be gladly appreciated.

Thanks and sorry if this has been covered before.

    HELP!
