  1. Not normally no, try tighten them a little and see if the noise improves if not then try and slacken them a tad and see if it gets better or worse i am pretty sure they would only make a noise if not tight enough tho! Coops
  2. On skylines etc there is a link you can unsoulder on the back of the speedo head did not know if there was a similar thing with the Z, o well 155 it is (on tracks) coops
  3. Is there no other way to de-restrict the zed than buying these devices?? coops
  4. Be careful not to over tighten as it will put extra strain on the bearings in all components and cause more turning resistance and heat, if it is only making a sound for the first few seconds then it shows the belt will only need tightning a fraction! coops
  5. Is there not a way or re-setting your elec windows? It could just of dropped out of sinc and might think it is at the top when its not ??? coops
  6. The A/C is system is the perfect breeding ground for bacteria (prob spelt wrong) and mould alike. It is stronly advised to 'service' the A/C system at the same time as a normal service which involves usind an Air con Purge. It is also advised to replace the particle filter anually or every 2 years. The process of carrying out this purge varies but the norm and what i do is the following. Start engine and put A/C on full blast, Cold and Recirc place activate the purge can and place in the centre of the vehicle and leave once all the can has emptied leave the car for a further 10 mins. At this point i hold my breath and change the setting i.e face vents and feet. i then leave it for 2 mins on each once you have done them all switch the car off and leave for and hour as it is really strong smelling and will send you off your t**s. We used to do this at nissan on every major service loads of companies do these A/c purges e.g. Forte. New filter (if poss) Purge Job done My 350z smells all good and so have all my cars, i belive do to this process. http://www.forteuk.co.uk/Air_conditioner.htm Or type Bacteria in car air con into google and see what comes up!!! hope this helps coops
  7. Sounds like the belts are a little loose to me! Not sure if the 350 belts have a direction arrow on them or if it even matters but if there is not an arrow you should always install them so you could read them sat on the engine then tension them up. You should be able to twist the belt 90-180 degrees on the longest side of the belt, ensure there is no contamination on it or the pulleys too. hope this helps coops
  8. Where are you based i have access to lots of facilities and worked for nissan as a tech for 4 years (not all nissan dealerships are out to rip you off, we used to stretch as far as possible with customer at dixon nissan in lincoln!) and i still have lots of good contacts i.e. free consult time, parts cheap etc etc i will help as much as poss. ABS warning light on will be a mot test fail, althought they dont test it directly if the light is on its a fail, if for some reason the light was to stop illuminating then it would pass Does the abs still function? Is the abs working all the time? Could be water ingress in conectors cables or control unit? have you noticed and water getting in the car? coops
  9. Ok this write up is a little confusing! Start from fresh ignore your new led jobs and just conect the original earth and the original power, so it is back how it was before you started! If it works let me know and i will talk you through conecting them up. If the lights still dont work with it conected as original then you have a problem which does sound v much like a fuse! coops
  10. cool 1 forum 2 intrests Just coming back from 4 month intense training coops
  11. Dose anyone know if there is a way of making the dials do a self test? you know like bikes etc do when you switch the ing on and all the dials go max and then drop down again? I know BMW e36 M3 there is a sync thing you do with the indicator stalk? coops
  12. Dont supose there is many Gym goers on here is there? Non of you cardio Girls tho coops
  13. Prob best to give the pads a slight re-face first to get the most from them! coops
  14. to reface you just need a nice flat surface and a sheet of sandpaper medium to harsh grade then with a figure 8 type motion rub the face of the pad on it, keep checking to ensure you dont remove too much just enought to have a nice even finish over the whole pad. Did you use anything to clean the discs before installing them and how many miles you done on them so far?? Also did you bed them in i.e. doing some nice gradual stops builing up in speed as too many people just jump on the brake pedal and warp their discs. cheers coops
  15. Always, Always use a tourque wrench! The only reason Impact guns/wrenches have the forwards or 'do up' setting is not for that at all it is for left hand threads. Why would you want to Shock something while doing it up. Best peace of advice is spare the £20-£30 and buy a tourque wrech and as for your porblem, check everything is tightened up correctly inc the little locating screw on the front disc and ensure it is fitting flush, the problem could also be the pads i guess did you reface them before installing them and what discs have you fitted? Coops
  16. I Have a good friend who knows this project gtst and project 350z i will get him to drop a word about the forum?? Looks great tho, you reckon he's running standard internals?
  17. Just picked up a nail in one of my rear tyres and rather than replace both rear tyres thought i might as well get some new wheels problem is i am just recovering from the wedding bill just moved into a house and about to spen 1k on servicing and brakes so could do with monthly on some wheels?? Any help would be great as i need a solution asap Cheers coops
  18. I would strongly advise anyone who removes there own wheels to spend the £30 on a torque wrench, Why do you think Nissan spend there time testing and printing correct tightening torques for wheels etc ?? I have seen a few occasions where customers etc have over tightened there wheel bolts which has led to the wheel bolts shearing! Imagine that going round a bend. It makes no sense if you have one USE IT! it takes seconds to tighten wheels correctly and could save you a lot of money. Each time you over tighten your wheel bolts you will stretch the bolt and threads a fraction and if you do this every time you remove and re-fit your wheels, joint with the cornering forces and heat its an accident waiting to happen! This is by no means meaning to scare anyone but to own these cars and to be a member of this forum shows you are an enthusiast to some degree, so surely £30 and a few extra mins of time is worth the peace of mind Spacers look good tho after some of these myself as funds are tight and cant afford new wheels at the min.
