My clutch is dying so getting quotes for fitting a new one and flywheel (cheers ZMANALEX)

Lockwood in Manchester wanted £396 inc vat - they are a highly praised garage and I use them for servicing as do lots on here, but that seems pretty expensive!

Anyone got one fitted recently and paid a similar amount??

Just had it replaced last week, same problem, see here:

Went for the single mass fly wheel, beware of the noise it makes bellow 2000rpm, but the zed feels quicker with the single one. If you're doing the whole job, go for the B&M short shifter as well like the one here viewtopic.php?p=642413#p642413 totally changed the feel of the gear changing, very precise and short! Love it!

This is going to be an expensive month for the Zed: road tax, Nismo V2 bumper, spray an fit the latter and now new clutch etc.

Do I require a flywheel aswell?? and oil???

Someone mentioned the lightened ones being noisy - is that the case??

Clutch bite point is fairly high and always has being since I get the car when it had 5000miles (5k not 50k) on it.

What clutch did you replace it with?

Noticed it this morning on the motorway, 6th gear 65mph, foot down to overtake.... revs raise for about 1 second then dropped down again like I've dipped the clutch then slowly start to raise again but very slowly. Just sounds/feels like an automatic when it changes gear

Same thing on the way home with 5th aswell.

Car has done 65k, all servicing upto date with air filter (JWT) getting cleaned last week. Filled up with Tesco 98ron last night.

Anyone get any ideas??

Silly question but if the clutch was dying wouldnt it only do it on gear changes?? (which it isnt doing)

Had the same problem with my EBC discs and I know someone else that had the problem - both of us had to get our discs skimmed. I think there must be a bad batch going round - either that or they are just @*!#!

so is it the cat back system??

where did you get it form? - I've seen it around £800 but not shopped around properly yet.

So the Miltek exhaust doesn't drone or get annoying at motorway speeds??

I'm after changing my system but want something similar to the stock sound, just a tad louder when you boot it.

I had a de-catted Miltek system on my Clio 182, it sounded amazing but at high speed it was just too loud.

I think it was around £250. I supplied the oil and I have a JWT fitted so no need for air filter change, they supplied the spark plugs.

Had my P2 done and brake lines changed for braided lines yesterday.

The guys couldn't have being more helpful if they tried. Even offered to wash it - which I gracefully declined, would have being steam cleaned too but someone nicked their steam washer recently!

Overall very impressed with the work and will be using them for all future work, well worth the trip from Halifax.

Need mine servicing so will call in this week and have a word.

Also need some braided lines fitting - if they can do that aswell that'll be perfect!

I had to pull it off gently til it broke as the screw head threaded. easy enough though.

where are you mounting your plate once its off???

Well in light of the election I have found new faith in the public sector so I've emailed my local 'neighbourhood policing workinging in partnership multi-racial trust'. The West Yorkshire police website appeared pretty helpful - just put in your postcode and it gives you an email address of your local officer.

I emailed 12hours ago and no one has replied ha ha

2 fronts ordered. getting fitted on thursday - hence why the car was at the front of the house.

just went outside my house to have my neighbour come over and say that a group of kids have being throwing stones at each other over the top of my parked car, hence the contents of my front garden are now across the road.

I didn't see which **** did it or I would have given him a good kicking. I went and spoke to the group of kids quickly walking away but obviously no one owned up to it. What can you do though - I couldn't hit everyone as I'd be locked up, you can't call the police as lets face it they won't give a ****.

I recognise one of them from down the road so going to go round once his mother is back from work and get him to give me the name and address of which one did it. Then go round and speak to the parents.

they have chipped my door and front wing enough for me to notice.

I'm so pi**ed off at the moment, ripped my sideway yesterday on a sharp kerb so had to order 2 new tyres today.

reversed over my marble edging running down my drive this afternoon and got a chunk taking out of my sidewall.

so the million dollar question - do I need a new tyre??

...and if I do should I replace the other on the same axle too - only done 7000miles and loads of tread left.

mine has a squeak on the passanger side when I first move the car

read Steve's thread and it sounds like the same problem with the same discs!

It started after about 4000miles from new which is a bit annoying.

hopefully getting the discs skimmed will fix it - i'll PM Steve as we are both in West Yorkshire.

hmmm I haven't since I got it.

I'll get it booked in at the weekend.
