Am I being mugged off? (P3 service)

My cars in at glum Hopkins St albans having its p3 service. £365 (with alleged trade discount) just had a call saying they recommend a coolant change too at an extra £70. This is a major service shouldn't that be included?!

Thanks in advance for replies!

I was quoted around £550 for a p3 with coolant and sparks on a hr (sparks are a lot more on hr than previous versions) from a Nissan dealer. I wanted sparks and coolant as they'd never been done and the car is now about 6 years old so due imo. So your quote seems a bit pricy unless they're doing the plugs as well.

@paddy, out of interest what tyres did you get and only pay £250 for a p3 all in?

:D

I thought P3's has been phased out by Nissan and they now only do P1 and P2? Plus £365 seems very steep! My P3 in Dec inc, MOT and 2 new Tyres was around £250. What are they doing for that price?

Personally I would be more worried at that price, if they're doing everything properly. I mean, a cheap mot is around £30, and haven't seen new tyres for under £100 each.

Nissan are terrible for pricing I'd find a specialist people have used that you can get reviews from or find an Infiniti dealer, see if they can help. Last time I had a P3 done at Infiniti Glasgow it was £251 inclu VAT and the courtesy car. I'm sure it could be a little cheaper but to be honest you want it done decently and your car looked after...and they do that just fine

Just goes to show what rip off merchants they are! How they can go from £365 + £70 to Ok we'll do it for £250!

You done well though getting them down to that.

The Nissan coolant is very good quality from factory. I would ask them what the test result was. What degree protection it went to.

I recently paid £225 at main dealer for a major service inc. coolant + £200 for plugs. Got a Leaf as a courtesy car for the day too, fun for a while but much better driving home in the Z.

Interestingly the paperwork showed three levels of service bronze, silver, gold so I expect the dealers still looking to rip us off if we are not careful. I'll scan the sheet if anyone interested.

Yes, Coolant and Brake fluid changed as part of the 'gold' service. I priced up plugs at £100+ for six and adding an hours labour on that it didn't seem too extortionate.
