Hi guys, viewing a 350z tomorrow!

Recommended Posts

Hey all, been browsing the forums for the past week or so as I've been considering the purchase of a 350z from a dealership in Portsmouth. I'm going to go view it (and possibly buy it) tomorrow. :) I negotiated almost 1k off the car from £12,975 to 12k. It's a 2009 with GT pack, 45k miles (so orange heated seats etc) in really good condition (apparently). Looks awesome!

There are a few questions I have if some of you would be kind enough to answer.

I read that the clutch can go from 40k~ish and as this car is at 45k it might need to be done within the next 10k miles. I haven't driven a car with a knackered clutch before, what should I be on the lookout for? Also, apparently the flywheel needs doing too? Approx £1k?

I saw http://www.350z-uk.com/topic/50807-reversing-camera-fitted/ on fitting a reverse camera. What is the stereo needed for this? Expensive?

I looked at this site: http://nissan350zbodykit.com/ for bodykits and really, the only one I like the look of is the V2 kit without going overboard, but I can't find it anywhere to buy online. If I've read correctly, the kit comprises of: front bumper, side skirts and the rear spoiler. Is that pretty much it? How many hours fitting?

Also, I have read buyers guides and the guide on here for buying a 350z, but this is a 2009. Is there anything I should be on the lookout specifically with this year's model?

Not sure I can think of anything else, anyway... Hi guys! Looking forward to posting more with pics etc if I buy. :)

Clutches can be random, depends on previous use. A few still going at 100k some went at 40k. When they go its quite easy to tell as you stick it in 3rd at low speed and put your foot down and the clutch slips with the revs going up but the car not accelerating. Most people change the flywheel as the clutch is out anyway. When I changed my clutch the flywheel was all scored so was glad I just changed it.

Have a chat with Tarmac on here re: bodykits, he has various stuff you could source from here or he can safely get you stuff sent from the US - not cheap though.

If you go to the relevant section of this forum there is plenty of info on buying, and a definitive (as far as it can be) buyers guide - will leave you a little challenge to hunt that down though ;)

welcome to the forum!

personally I wouldn't be too worried about a clutch at 45k miles... it entirely depends on how its been driven. mines on 67k and feels absolutely fine.

anyways, best way to test it is the biting point, they're high anyway but shouldn't be right at the top of the travel. best way to test is on a dual carriageway, put it in 5th and floor it - should be absolutely no slippage.

Welcome to the club.

As others have said, clutch depends on previous use. Follow the advise above regarding accelerating in a high gear at low speed and listen for slippage. Don't get too worried about a high biting point, as compared to most cars they are high anyway. (unless its right at the top)

Most other things are in the buyers guide.

Good luck.

So... I bought it. @*!# it's fast! I ride a 600RR and this is a lot harder to control, especially in first gear.

Really?!?!

Either theres something seriously wrong with the geometry or you've never driven a car before.

I can't believe a 350Z is a lot harder to control than a 600RR (unless youre driving on ice maybe?)

I'll put it down to excited enthusiasm, I'm always over the moon when I get a new car :-)

Congrats on the purchase, looking forward to the pics

1. try twisting the throttle a bit more on the 600

2. Don't jump on a TL1000S :surrender:

3. Welcome to the fold :)

And here's a pic of the bike... although I've only had it for 6 months I'm thinking of trading it in for an R6 with a thousand miles or so on it (prefer the look of the R6 tbh)...
