flyboy Posted October 26, 2014 Share Posted October 26, 2014 (edited) Got fed up with all the wasted space in the 370 boot so made use of it I put a load of good sound insulation on floor under carpet so no louder than std, If anything a bit quieter. Nope just moulded it with a heatgun. Can be removed if necessary but there is nothing under there to need to get to. The shelf towards the cockpit lifts up and the compressor and tools with the foamy cannister go under there. Room for a warning triangle, hi vis bulb kit etc. for touring. Yeah I put a tailored (Cut like the carpet) layer of Felt/fibre (underfelt) about 15mm thick over the whole boot floor and up the sides too. Now with the Invidia, HFC's, and Takeda intakes, I dont tend to listen to music much any more. I always had the bass turned right down when it was in, so now I have just turned it back up and its not missed. I stripped out the 350z on occasion too but never trimmed it back up, just chucked a blanket on the bottom and put everything back once I had finished camping or whatever. Rest of the system works fine. I am now in the middle of installing another sub though. An under seat one which I will put next to the bose amp. Have had it wired to low level and high level inputs but cant make my mind up which is best. ( I take it you dont have a spare wheel like me- Some do however!) If you want a flat floor like mine though you will have to remove the bracket which the subwoofer or spare mounts to, by drilling out the spot welds. Dont go too deep though, no need to go through the boot floor skin. Just a bit of touch up paint to cover the bare metal under it. Relocate the alarm sounder to one side, (plenty of cable) and tuck a few cables out the way, then you have a flat floor to go at. I have doubled the boot space at least for £30 and an afternoons work. I was quoted about £300 to do it by a re-trimming company but thought that was over the top (they said it would take them 2 days.)
