CALLING THE CUSTOM EXHAUST SPECIALISTS

RDON

Recommended Posts

hi folks, shortly going to have a custom exhaust made and fitted and I wanted to pick the brains of some of the exhaust experts that im sure are on here!

I want to have performance gains but with a great sound and not too much drone at cruising speeds as its my daily driver. Now I have initially asked the exhaust guys for a x pipe after the cats then dual 2.5" down to anti roll bar with two small single mufflers then after anti roll bar go to 3" and then two single back boxes and 4" slash tips.

how does that sound? will it work? will it drone too much and need couple of resonator chambers in there? open to feedback and suggestions. thanks.

It depends how much it will cost to have a custom setup? Some out-of-the-box systems have a very good reputation on here. My personal favourite is the Nismo exhaust which has no drone at all unless you floor it (then it comes to life in an evil tone), but unfortunately they are discontinued so you would have to source a second-hand one. I have heard many good things about the Cobra systems too (resonated or non-resonated options). Have a browse through YouTube for some ideas.

The experts should really be the guys who are making your exhaust Rich.

Tell them what your requirements are (regarding sound, noise levels, drone etc) and if what you've mentioned above isn't suitable, they should advise otherwise. If, after they've built your 'zorst, you're not happy, they should 'adjust' their system until you're happy.

Imo a lot of these people that make custom exhausts aren't specialists ~ they just know how to weld two bits of pipe together and make them fit under the car.

If it was me I would rather get an Ark system or Invidia etc etc where I know proper R&D has gone into it.

Doesn't bother me about having something different from someone else or the same as everyone as long as I enjoy it. ;)
