My Little weekend project.....

Nice work Tim. Been there and done with a full strip earlier this year. It makes a big difference as even the plastics weight cumulatively but the car is so raw that so you need to be committed.

I've got my zed done to 1380kg now with quarter tank fuel and all the other fluids. I believe the UK spec GT weighs 1600kg with fluids.

It's a shame I didn't weight individual parts for reference but this has been done before on my 350z US.

The only areas left for me is the window motors, AC compressor and lines and lean replacement for all the glass except windscreen. There probably just under 100kg there but I'll loose about 25kg to my full roll cage and when I get the sc back on.

Fwiw I would have done an initial corner weight and put the battery in the best spot to roughly even the weights to make full corner weghting easier.

Hi mate,

I have not had the car corner weighted yet but i see what you mean regarding battery placement. My thinking was getting weight over the back axle and keeping it neutral for the time being.

Hey Tim, if you are passing through before it starts to snow just give me a call and you can have a drive yourself though it maybe misleading since I'm on full solid bushes, solid mounts and wide R888s. My car is going in for a full cage during winter so give me a head up.

I would recommend the urethane gb mount and LSD 100%. 2way is way better than I thought but I use my car predominantly for track or driving to track. If you have doubts get the 1.5-2way Cusco or Kaaz so you can adjust it to suit. Get urethane engine mounts and diff to tie the whole driveline together.

Is it wrong to get exited over ordering some new fat R888 rubber for the back? LOL..

Don't worry, when my arches come I can't wait for bigger rubber

What arches mate??

I keep looking at the carbon doluck ones...

JDM flares I think, as If I got the Star dust ones I'd need new wider wheels.

With these I can lose the camber, raise it a little and get bigger tyres.

Quite lot of sound deadening to come out that should save a good amount of weight still!

20151215_160650_zps6pmyfad3.jpg

OEM front 350z floor mats out :) 1.8KG

20151215_161652_zpstfaclwyt.jpg

Air bag ECU removed as I now have no airbags so this is a waste to carry around lol... Has 4 14mm bolts that hold it down and I've forgot to put those in so its 50g heaver than this i think. 0.3KG

20151215_161553_zpsfml24yzj.jpg

My body weight (A lot i know haha I will lose a few KG and help the Power to weight haha)

20151215_160932_zpsjiyp9edp.jpg

Floor carpet out.

20151215_170618_zpswnhao1nq.jpg

Driver vs. passenger

20151215_170626_zpsa8logfrr.jpg

Passenger seat balanced on scale. 21.8-22KG (I was holding it so not quite full weight) OEM driver seat is just about 25kg as it has extra motors and more adjustments.

20151215_161224_zpsft4gjkfy.jpg

Driver seat with all mounting brackets 14.7KG

20151215_161325_zpsimxixyck.jpg

Possible saving when new passenger seat is in = 7.1KG

TOTAL SO FAR 18.2KG

Next job it so remover the tar sound deadening plus some other bits of deadener. Im then looking to cut down the wiring loom as most bits in the cabin are not used now to save more weight.

The dash trim and centre console covering the trans tunnel are going back in to keep it looking nice and the seam sealer is being removers and floor wells painted in body colour :)

Drivers side during.

20151216_131831_zpsst4klsea.jpg

Decided to try and see if the tar deadener would come off with out dry ice and it did!!

20151216_131826_zpslr8qzypo.jpg

20151216_131836_zpsmlkllji9.jpg

The closest place to me that i can get dry ice from is 30 mins away and its £60 for 10kg minimum order :( I may just take it off with out using dry ice as thats £80 for ice and fuel just to get the tar off!!

Just the small section of tar removed from the side of the driver trans tunnel in a bag :)

20151216_132245_zpswecpsdob.jpg

TOTAL SO FAR = 18.9KG
