I'll be doing a comparison between a few shortly - I was hoping to do it this weekend, weather permitting, until I realised I don't have any Iron X. I may do it anyway though. .... it's taken more than 2 years (and 6 pages) to conduct this bloody fallout remover test and I'm still not done yet! Cancoat will take up to 7 days (I think, from memory) to fully cure, in that time if it gets wet it can suffer from waterspot etching (ie. requires polishing to remove, which will take the coating with it), Cure is thus a sacrificial layer to protect the underlying coating from waterspotting I that first week - certainly within the first 24-48 hours. If you're keeping the car out of the elements for that time, away from water and don't feed it after midnight then there's little need for Cure as well but if you're rolling the car out of the garage as soon as you're done it's a protective layer until the coating is fully cured. Today saw Bilt Hamber Korrosol go up against Auto Finesse Iron Out. Korrosol did this; Meanwhile Iron Out did this; Rinsing happened. Then they swapped wheels. Korrosol then did this immediately; Iron Out then immediately did this; Most of this was traced back to the wheel weight, but there are other areas reacting both in the picture above and that below. Elsewhere it picked up a few bits here and there; They were both left to dwell for a few minutes, after which Korrosol had done this; In the same time, Iron Out picked up this; That was all. As should be expected at this stage, the performance of the remaining fallout removers are quite close. I do think it's fair to say that Bilt Hamber Korrosol out performs Auto Finesse Iron Out here, albeit not by a huge amount. I'd quite happily recommend AF Iron Out but considering Korrosol is cheaper (£13/litre compared to £20/litre for AF Iron Out), equally as available (Polished Bliss) and (marginally) better, I'm not quite sure why you wouldn't go for Korrosol instead. ilogikal1 Posted October 28, 2017 Author Share Posted October 28, 2017 Speaking of Car Chem Revolt, that was also in action today against OCD Finish Purple Haze. Like the other two wheels, these were prepared with a snow foam and shampoo wash before tackling a wheel each. Now, a quick preamble to this one; my Revolt has run out. Luckily @G1en@waxandshinehad kindly sent me a box of Car Chem sample sized goodies in return for doing a write up for the Wax and Shine website, which included some Revolt. Hurrah. Now this is noteworthy because, a) credit to Wax and Shine for this occurring now and, 2) the sample size thing is relevant here. We'll get to that though. First up, Purple Haze almost immediately did this; Ignore the amount coming from the weights, there's also plenty of other reaction going on around it too. Car Chem Revolt was applied to the remaining wheel. As mentioned, this was from a sample size jobby so was sporting a mini-trigger spray head. When I first used it, I immediately noticed that the spray pattern was somewhat more direct than the usual spray head pattern which isn't ideal. Here's the new spray head on the left compared to the old on the right; With the mini-trigger in use, Revolt immediately did this; Again the majority here is coming from the weights, but there's also plenty of other fallout around too. After a few more minutes, Purple Haze had done this; After an equal amount of time, Car Chem Revolt had done this; They were both given a few more minutes (about 10 in all) but not much else happened. The wheels were the rinsed thoroughly with the pressure washer and the f/o removers then swapped wheels. Purple Haze immediately did this; After a few minutes, it had done this; So it's picked up a few bits that Revolt didn't first time round. Revolt then went and did this immediately; And after a few more minutes, it had done this; So there you have it. Revolt picked up a fair bit more than Purple Haze in round two, so takes the win on this one. It did occur to me that the spray pattern on the mini-trigger head on Revolt may account for what Purple Haze picked up that Revolt didn't originally and that there may have been areas that I missed with Revolt, or it could just be that Purple Haze is actually just very good. To eliminate the speculation, I have now decanted the Revolt into the full size bottle, complete with usual, full size trigger spray head and treated both wheels to a final hit. Here's what happended... On the wheel that was Purple Haze'd the Revolt'd; And on the previously Revolt'd then Purple Hazed wheel; So yeah, the spray head makes a difference.
