Lord have mercy! (Coolant airlock issue resolved)

Today i went to nissan and ask if they had any specialists tools for airlock.. they sent me out a mechanic. Who started squeezing pipes and said oh these are rock solid its holding pressure like a pressure cooker. then he opened my radiator cap and coolant splashed out and he qickly closed it and said it shouldnt be doing that, to which i replied iv been driving for the past 20mins. He then announced that i have two blown headgaskets and thats why i have no heat? Guys please tell me this guy is being a donkey? I thought if your car is up to temperature and you open the radiator cap it will pour out regardless of headgasket or not?

And then when i asked him would they be able to replace there he said oh we wouldnt touch that and id need my heads skimmed down too?

My car is still overheating but just by a little over the half way line..

Are there any tell tale signs of blown headgasket i asked him and he said no!? I would have thought the oil would be mixed or pourin out black smoke or something surely?

That's about right for a Nissan Garage, tell us which area you live in

and somebody on here will point you in the right direction to somebody who knows what they are talking about.

Frightening a so called mechanic opening the rad cap when hot.... :scare: :scare:

Im in Cardiff, Ive been recommended niss tech in swansea, has anyone had any dealings with them?

Can I have that mech's number - he is good I have never seen anyone squeeze a pipe open a rad cap and diagnose both head gaskets blown without any further testing!!

We could do with skills like that to call upon!

or he is a numpty and you should ignore his diagnosis and go somewhere that actually run a few tests to prove their fault diagnosis!

Was this Wessex Nissan SkylineV35?

If so they are absolutely rubbish. :surrender:

When I first got my Zed they caused damage to it when I took it to them for a simple job of replacing the spark plugs & then obviously charged be an arm & a leg for the work.

PM sent.

Step, no wait run away from the so called Nissan mechanic!

Have you checked to make sure both rad fans run when its on hot idle? a failed fan motor is a common problem and will lead to overheat at idle or slow moveing traffic, you can check the second fan is working by switching on the aircon, if its not you have found your problem.

I think I have a spare fan motor knocking about somewhere from when I used to offer a repair service for them, that I may sell if you need one.

No i think my fans are fine as when from cold start i let it heat up till fan kicks in and when i hit the aircon the second fan kicks in.I have uprated to a mishimoto fans and shroud due to fans not working lastime
