It'd mean that those who want to drive faster are less likely to get 'held up' behind someone who prefers to keep to a slower pace and it'd also reduce the chances of people being left behind. Rather than somehow trying to manage that on the day (and trying to prevent a group of 20 and another group of 2!), could people be asked to choose their groups beforehand (with limits on the number of people per group)? glrnet Posted June 20, 2013 Author Share Posted June 20, 2013 The only thing i would suggest is that when we head out in the groups to drive, maybe have the last group as a slower group for less confident drivers. I had fun on the drive outs, but the Sunday morning driving between SMD and Beavis i felt a bit out of my depth and paranoid that i was annoying Beavis behind me!! After we stopped i hung back and drove with twobears and we had more fun at a slightly slower pace! Aside from that, the Moreton was great, the routes were fab and just make sure that nice weather is on order every year!! We did discuss this before the weekend and had already agreed that Peter would escort a "slower group" on the Saturday which he very kindly agreed to do. It is difficult to know how to "pitch" the whole slower driver issue without hurting peoples feelings and we did speak to one or two others who were happy to stay with the main groups and they thoroughly enjoyed themselves We had decided that if there was adverse feed back on the Saturday then we would make changes on the Sunday but we received no complaints. We were also mindful of the potentially faster group that we knew would form around the lads with superchargers and Darren agreed to lead this group so to ensure that nonsupercharged cars in that group didn't become isolated and again I think in general that worked. Undoubtedly this would not have worked as well as it did without the help of Colin, Darren, Will and Peter, however you comments have been taken on board and next year maybe it will be an idea to issue some more "general help guidelines a week or so before the event. Actually, that was pretty damn good! My ears are just about working again after (trying) to follow Bennett and co Infact, i seem to recall that we had stopped at the top-edge of the Evo Triangle not far past the pub we have stopped at on previous Wales trips (now closed). We got out of the cars for a chat...and could hear a Zed approaching...and approaching...and approaching...and then a few minutes later Bennett arrived from the opposite side of the traiangle. Nice quiet Zed that, really can't hear it coming from miles away In terms of improvements - the only thing that threw a few people was the Google Maps directions. I think it would be useful if (as part of any future reccee) someone makes a note of the major turns, and then perhaps edits-down the Google maps directions so they only contain the crucial "turn off here" bits? HaydnH Posted August 9, 2013 Share Posted August 9, 2013 I found the Birdview absolutely fantastic in Switzerland, I did miss program it once and it tried to take me on a car train through a mountain but the "alter waypoint using map" feature worked really well for that... just drag the waypoint to that nice twisty looking thing.
