valy Posted April 27, 2017 Share Posted April 27, 2017 (edited) So I had a lot of up's and down's today, mostly the latter. - Just heard from Vossen, wheels won't be here.... for months My paint gun decided to break mid spray, nozzle has a split. The primer is too thick even with thinners. I was running out of paint until 5pm when the courier showed up with my satin black basecoat. . . that is shiny and I don't have time to sand Wrapped the rear quarter with the aerial snub still on the car..... bad idea, ended up having to start again and remove the dam thing. Wing mirrors ain't getting wrapped as I need too much force and will probably snap them off and I don't have time to take the doorcards off again to remove them. + My new 1.3 nozzle burisch lvlp gun is 10x better that the freebe i had been using and luckily arrived today. wired up the 370z indicators getting better at spraying shame all the parts look pants as they need a good long sand to get them all level/old runs out.. no time so please don't spit at my car in disgust at japfest. The plan tomorrow is assemble it all and deal with the problems that WILL arise. Should have wrapped them but forgot and its on now ended up using some black spray paint on the white chopping board..... it wont last long i expect. evilscorp Posted April 28, 2017 Author Share Posted April 28, 2017 Rivnuts are not strong in plastic bumpers First test drive and my diffuser detached and was scraping along the road, fortunately I was just accelerating out a 30mph into a 60mph just before a roundabout with a quiet lane I could dive into and take it off completely. Damage isn't bad, slight crack in the fiberglass that will need addressing later. had to use large washers and bolts which were not easy to attach and the super duper cable ties to reduce the angle it sits at as there are not proper brackets or mounting points doubled up both sides to the subframe so should hold. evilscorp Posted June 21, 2017 Author Share Posted June 21, 2017 Can't post pictures but the car is being sidelined as I have a new toy, A nice 200sx 14A auto in green. bodywork is in good condition but the underside is coated in underseal and hiding the weld/rust repairs so I have just bought this boy https://www.weldequip.com/portamig-165-mig.htm The subframe will be dropped in a few weeks time, for the cleaning/shot blasting and welding to commence! After many moons and conversations with Torqen, my lovely wheels turned up today They look so much better in the flesh than the photo's. Just have to wait a few more weeks to use them..... I might have forgotten I had made the front's to fit Ksport BBK but I never got round to buying them and they dont fit over the oem brembo's lol. Waiting to hear back from some ksport dealers as I have tried the 356mm template and it fits but I want to see if 380mm disc's fit before I order a set. The brembo's won't go to waste as they are an easy swap on the 200sx. Half the car has been stripped for my second attempt at painting and I intend to do a red lip all the way round the bottom of the car to add some colour. More bodywork so the engine build is still on hold until the dusty stuff is done... and the floor pan on the 200sx has been cut and re-welded (fun times burning through stuff). 1 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

evilscorp Posted September 27, 2017 Author Share Posted September 27, 2017 Bodywork is off and the sanding has begun, 400/600 grit to remove the old run marks still got a few pieces to do then Probably go over them again to get the same smooth feel as some of the orange peal is still there. On to pastures new for the brembos. A quick clean up and some copperslip on the hubs. A small amount on here to stop brake squeal and pad binding. Test fitting went well, but I need to find my flare spanner or buy a new one to remove the old Hel brake lines as I managed to shear the 10mm bolt that holds them out the way Fortunately there is a spare hole under it. Yeay! The main aim, the wheels fit and no rubbing/ plenty of gap. It was only a test fit so nothing is flush as the brake shields need trimming down to fit the larger brakes (I tried hammering them backwards so they wont foul but it didn't work). Sadly the other side is being a Bi#@h the bottom caliper bolt is seized and I am having to very slowly hit the socket with a hammer so its a long process as I would hate to shear one of those gits.
