Connecting exhuast pipe break

Evening all,

Firstly, whilst I absolutely love my 350z along with many other cars I must be frank and admit that I know embarrassingly little about how stuff actually works, so please don't flame me!

Was coming back on the motorway on Friday and noticed my exhaust noise had grown significantly, when I got it home I took a look and noticed that the connection (clamp?) between the muffler and the tailpipe wasn’t attached together anymore.

Can someone confirm to me that this will be the cause of noise, and that I'm right in thinking it's not a major pain to fix? Something did hit the under carriage of the car on the motorway in the morning so I'm not sure if this helped cause the problem but can anyone explain why this has happened?

Appreciate your help in advance.

Darren :)

I bought a Cobra resonated from Cougar last week, I had the typical break in the same place. The Cobra receives a definite thumbs up from me, deeper and throatier than the OEM, but not droning and loud like a chav exhaust
