Me too

Although having gone in a Boxster S once - I liked it - the interior was superb compared to the crappy Nissan interior BUT I would still have my zed simply because I see Boxsters ten a penny every day and nobody bats an eyelid at them. Good motor though.

Doesn't let me view it.

Shame.

The Cayman S has probably offered the most grip I've EVER experienced in a car. Mental. I've said to my GF regularly that I really like Boxsters and looked at one before I got my Zed. The insurance was too high then. The thing that put me off the Cayman was the fact it was close to 911 money and I LOVE 911s so that's what I'd want.

Not impressed with the way they've spoken to him so far...........still reading..........

"Life isnt about the group consensus, if you really want to go with the crowd start a blog and live your life online. Jump at opportunities and enjoy the experience. You have all the info you need to make an informed decision about what car you would like, youve done your research you know of the potential issues yet your still here. You wouldnt be at the table if there wasnt food you desired so cut your cr*p and stop carrying on like a fekwit.... or just save us all the time and drama that you generate and fek off to the 350Z forum. Tell them you decided against a boxster they will love you cos they are always getting blown off by us every other time... they need the win! "

And after the flaming he got I think the following was reasonably justified:

"Yes the 350Z is not as good, but sometimes its just so attractive because you can have one almost-new fully loaded with every single option for £17k. Its faster than 3.2S so really if you think with your head and not your heart then it makes sense. But that niggle at the back of mind says "Its not a Porsche...." so I look again at Porsches and what I get for my money seems so insignificant.

I have owned many different brands of cars in my life and been on many forums but I think the attitude of some people on here totally tarnishes the Porsche brand. You all own Boxsters because its the cheapest entry into the Porsche marque. So really you're just as much a bunch of wannabes as the next person. You're like people who have a 1-Series 1.6L and want to rub shoulders with people in M3s. I wonder what you'll be like when Audi just take all of Porsche's technology and make their own Boxster cheaper and better. "

Touche I say!

To be honest i can't be bothered to read any more. They seem a nice bunch of guys on there - one or two have been out of order to him and he has fairly retaliated in my opinion. We get similar things on here where certain people are a bit harsh - guess that's just the way it is. He should get a zed anyway!

Poor man's GTR according to someone on there!

Blimey, he certainly made himself welcome over there. In one post he managed to call the Boxa.net community a group of rednecks a group of entry-level owners and no better than Escort driving yobs.

I owned a 986 2.7 several years ago and used to frequent Boxa.net. I found the long standing members to be a really decent bunch of folks and even though I only managed to attend one Boxa.net run I have fond memories of the people I met.

I do wonder which marque token will turn to now after ruling out a 350z and seemingly alienating himself from the Porsche community.

Hi

I am trying desperately to decide between a Boxster and Cayman and I really need your help! I have a feeling that the Boxster might be a bit claustraphobic for me when the roof is up.... but I cannot find any pics of the interior with the roof up!

Can anyone help me out and please post up some pics of sitting inside the car with the roof up. I would like a view from the sides (as if you were checking your blind spots) and also a view of the rear-view mirror, and then just a photo of the rear screen.

Anyone please?

-------------------------------------------------------------350Z.COM - Sublime Boxster----------------------------------------------------------

I was after initially a GT4 Yellow 350Z but never found one that was worth the money.... After looking for a while I decided to check out the Porsche Boxster S. After driving the Boxster S I went to drive a 2006 '56' 350Z with the better interior and more power.

I know you all love the 350Z so I'm not going to flame it or anything, but all I can say is that I immediately put a deposit on the Boxster S. It is absolutely sublime and so well planted on the road that I have paid way more for it than the 350Z cost and got less equipment (no xenons or bose). But the way the car drives and sounds I think it was worth it.

Anyone wanting to move away from a 350Z in the future should definitley go for a Boxster S.

Reading that thread is a hoot! You got some guy comparing Zed vs Boxter 0-60 times and trying to speculate the test drivers light japanese body weight in comparison to a heavy germans

I think tokens just winding them up now though.

I still can't read it! It sucks!

There will always be difference of opinions from petrol heads. Going on an owners forum isn't exactly going to get you an unbiased opinion though....

I think this is probably the best post in this topic

Also, we may be a Zed forum but I'm guessing we're all petrolheads first and foremost, so it really doesn't hurt to say when other cars our better than our own. We all had our reasons for picking the Zed over other comparable cars, but that doesn't mean we bought the quickest & nimblest & best looking car available to us. My car is much uglier than either the Boxster or the Cayman, is slower and handles worse out of the box, but it's got a touch more character IMHO and that's why it got my money. My previous car was quicker and better handling than any of the above, but sometimes you want something different in a car :)

Dan - you speak sense sir!:clap:

Hi Z ppl. I thought it was fairly common knowledge, that Porsche insist on using a full tank of fuel but most other manufacturer's use 1/4 tank. If you read the mags (not just the Porsche ones), like evo, the mags almost always get better 0-60 times than quoted by Porsche, sometimes by quite a bit, like 0.5 or 1s, and often state surprise at this, for that reason, I know it's a retarded way to test a car but it is true. And Japanese test drivers are clearly lighter than Germans as they have less facial hair.

I've just done that annoying thing where you make one serious point, followed by a joke, and then the joke ruins the serious point!

I should probably reply on here seeing as the Boxa.net "community" think they own the rights to the Porsche brand and everyone's rights to own one.

When I posted about not buying a 350Z I did in fact place a deposit on the Boxster S. However (what the inbreds at Boxa.net don't tell you) is that the seller had no V5 or spare keys for the car so I had to back out.

Since then I was asking for advice on the cars because I don't know much about them. In the end I wanted to go for one of either 2 Boxsters - a black 2.7 or a yellow 3.2. They all said "it must have heated seats" so that rules the 3.2 yellow one out. I went to buy the black one and it has no service history.

So I said "I'm fed up, I'm off to buy a 350Z instead". And look at the ridiculous toys out of the pram replies I got. And they think their cyberwar on me is going to somehow increase their manhoods. Really are these people meant to be adults or just a bunch of homos with a liking for soft things that flop down. I am rather enjoying seeing them scramble together to combat the 911 remarks - it just beggars belief.

Well no need for any cyber wars to spill over here.

We pays our moneys and we makes our choice!

I think most people on here would agree that dynamically the Boxster and Cayman is streets ahead of the 350Z but at the end of the day we've chosen a Datsun for reason.

So  to our boxa.net friends.

Swirleman <--- registered on here just to post a link across to them to defame me.... and his comments were he was done with my thread. He was so "done" with my thead that he comes on here hoping for what?!

Out of all this I actually feel sorry for the proper Porsche owners who spend £50k+ on their cars and have to share a showroom with these Boxster owners and their Del Boy antics.

+1

Don't really know why it's still going on tbh. As had been said before, your money, do what you want with it. T'was amusing at first but seems to be degenerating to new levels of low on both sides . . .

I just wanted to say hello. As a boxster owner and very regular user of Boxa.net I found this thread very interesting, some great posts, some shyate, very much like we have over there. It’s a good job that we don’t all have the same tastes in cars, would be very boring on the roads.

For background, token has been hanging around boxa.net for a while asking many questions that people have taken a lot of time to respond too. However, the guy simply can't make a decision or create an opinion of his own. For example, one of the questions he asked was "are heated seats important?" The responses he got were very mixed as you would expect and ranged from "absolutely essential" to "not at all, they give you piles". Based on these responses he decided that he must have heated seats because we all said so. People have only lashed out at him after he has made some stupid comments, personal attacks, called us Rednecks and regurgitated Clarkson's “poor mans Porsche†line.

I can also assure you that this wasn’t the only one of his stupid threads, in one he asked people to take a photo of the interior of their cars as he couldn’t remember if it felt claustrophobic… :headhurt: :headhurt: :headhurt:

Boxa.net is a very friendly, helpful and welcoming forum, none of the members that I've ever met are pretentious or look down their noses at drivers of other brands. Many use their Boxsters as weekend cars and run Fords/VW’s etc. as their daily drives so why would they. Many members have moved on from boxster ownership both for other Porsche models or other brands completely (one even bought an Alpha recently… :disguise: ) but still hang around as it is such a good forum.

I think his initial post on this thread really sums him up, slagging Z's on a Z owner forum is just pathetic. I'm sure he managed to waste some of your time asking for advice before deciding on "the sublime boxster"... The guy is a d!ck and just needs to go home to his toys and look forward to the day that he can finally take his driving test... :console:

Cheers... :drunk:
