GTR wanted. preferably black edition up to 40k

Recommended Posts

Evening,

Looking for a decent GTR,

Can anyone advise on values at the moment please?

Should I wait until they get this chip shortage sorted out? Prices of all used cars are ridiculous atm.

Are the GTR's only going up atm?

Seems a lot for a 2009 car but heh always wanted one. Now is the time. Cash purchase. Thanks in advance

Chris

I think used prices will continue to rise since Nissan have permanently stopped building the R35 GT-R.

Maintenance and servicing costs can be extremely expensive if you are unlucky, so build that into your annual budget and buy carefully.

There are huge differences and improvements between 2009 and 2018 model years.

There is one more batch of new UK cars coming in May this year, around 20 I understand. These were ordered in the first half of 2021 and have finally been given a build schedule (I never thought they would, but Nissan say they are).

Nissan UK have been refusing new orders since about the middle of 2021 and now Nissan Japan order book is closed too.

Nissan UK dealers have been told not to expect any new cars after 1st July this year as they cannot comply with new vehicle regs including noise levels and things like max speed control.

I bought a new one in May 2021 (ordered in Dec '20) and just before Christmas was offered 13% over the price I paid the dealer for it. I refused because I love it too much ...

Whether the increased secondhand values will continue only time will tell!

Best year to purchase would be 2012, got lots of tweaks all round and the Litchfield 4.25 stage is common and takes them to the max safe upgrade before you really need to start changing things.

Think you looking between 45 to 55 for a decent 2012+ currently.

The two things that put me off, one is the unexpected expense bills, pretty reliable cars to be fair if serviced properly, but something breaks it is big buck, even a 2012 is 10 years old. My other worry as I dont have a garage is how often they get stolen, never found any stats on this?

40k is a stretch..I think good examples are a tad bit more. If you're not fussed about the 2012 update you may be able to find a hidden gem thats stock with reasonable miles.

As stated id factor in around estimated £6000 per 10,000 miles for servicing. If youre Ms daisy you could save on tyres and brakes not having to do them within 15000 miles?! but it is a heavy car at 1750kg

Only because of Brake Service £1600 and Servicing on a higher mileage older model of near £1000 including oils. Tires are standard £1000 roughly. Fuel is around £2600+ per year and rising.

Servicing cost were what a specialist told me as my brother was looking at them.

Maybe im exaggerating but these costs are realistic for the current climate.

That made me smile, if you are driving like Ms Daisy the GTR is the wrong car for you.

Nissan GT-R axed in Europe after 13 years on sale

Long-serving supercar falls victim to strict new engine noise limits; still no word on a replacement

The Nissan GT-R will finally go off sale in Europe in light of strict new noise regulations coming into effect later this year.

Wasnt a huge seller anyway. They manage double digits monthly. No replacement in Europe. Theyre moving forward with Electric vehicles. Best case scenario is a hybrid petrol which needs to meet Euro 7 as well as noise limits. Noise limits were already in place in Japan

I can see them trying to replace all current models with EV equivalents starting with the SUVs.

EV Coupes including 2 seaters will probably arrive much later.

Nissan GT-R axed from UK sales because it's too loud for EU rules https://mol.im/a/10623139 via https://dailym.ai/android

Personally i would speak to Litchfield's they would probably be the best for advice and info, they are very friendly and they will know if any of there customers are planning on selling up, hope you have deep pockets, i would avoid the early gtr as it needs to be serviced twice a year

Thank's all for the info.

I was only likely to be using it as a second car, maybe 3000 miles a year.

Reading the posts and costs involved I'm not sure whether I should go for something else now. It would just be something for me to take out and enjoy now and then.

I have a daily.

I can stretch more than 40k if necessary.

Can I ask if it would appreciate over time which might counter the servicing etc costs?

Thanks

I think your looking at quite a lot more than 40k probably more like 50k plus and be prepared for 6 to 7k bills on top unfortunately. As for appreciation that's anyone's guess, i think you should speak to Litchfield's, don't let us lot put you off, good luck mate keep us updated 😁

Have a look in this link:  https://www.pistonheads.com/buy/search?make-id=39&model-id=525

There are only 30 cars advertised which is the lowest for quite a while.

As said in my previous post do your research and buy wisely.

I run a GT-R as a weekend car and I also have one specifically for track use, so I know first hand all about what is involved in maintenance and the running costs.

The heart wants what the heart wants. The prices have increased inline with used car market. That being said appreciation is anyones guess. Id hazard a guess at stronger values due to no new model atm. There will be good deals here and there. Good luck with the search. 3k miles youd probably not spend half of the 7k per year. Reliability dependant.
