New-ish HR Hampshire

Recommended Posts

Hey folks,

Picked up a HR in July last year finally got round to jumping on here now things are improving and can hopefully get out and about and meet some new people.

At the time of buying it was the cheapest HR I could find. Obviously this is a foolproof way of buying a car and not a decision I would regret at all...

Shortly after buying, it made the trip to Horsham developments to have the oil gallery gaskets changed. Unfortunatly I'd missed this issue in my pre-purchase research but at least is sorted now.

Then a failed lower arm bush made a perfect excuse to swap for poly bushes. Compression arm bushes are still on the to do list.

A morning underneath with jenolite and a wire brush identified a rapidly disintergrating exhaust, that will be adressed in before its next MOT and the bubbling arches in due time.

And recently a steady flashing airbag light has appeared that will also need sorting. Its a B1049 code so from my research I'm hoping a clock spring change will resolve it. If anyone has anymore knowledge on that thought it would be most appreciated.

All in all its become abit more of a project than I'd originally planned but its been a good learning experience so far. 😂

Flashing airbag can usually be sorted with a few key turns.

Ignition off, ignition on, wait for light to start flashing, ignition off. Do this 5 times, on the 6th, start it up and it should be gone, at least for a few months...

There's a YouTube video that explains it better.

mine was doing this, and as mikey_s explained that was shown to me by the seller as I moved the passenger seat when buying, what I ended up doing  was undo all the connectors under the passenger seat clean them with a contact cleaner and in 2 years it's never happened again

Thanks guys, I had seen about that reset, never actually tried it as the code would come straight back after being reset so I assumed it wouldn't work either. I'll give it a go.

Code came up as driver airbag though, do the drivers seat connectors have a similar issue? I usually move the seat forward and back getting in and out. Although the light originally started pretty randomly in middle of a drive.

Had a passenger for the first time in a year today.

Nothing under the passenger seat but when I moved it back and forward today for the missus......boom...... airbag warning light flashing.

30 seconds of ignition on and off 4 times and it's gone
