Loose gravel roads Grrrr....WHY?

Driving along a busy road to McDonald's and hit 2 long separate sections with a 20mph limit signed as risk of skidding.

Road has been resurfaced with loose stones/gravel.

Despite keeping my distance behind the car infront, the sound of stones peppering the underside of the zed was akin to chalk on blackboard.

And as traffic passed in the opposite direction it peppered my sides.

I think I'd prefer dodging potholes than endure repairs like this:surrender:

That'll teach you for eating shite : ) I know, I know, the kids wanted it not you ...

Actually I feel your pain. Happened to me when I had a Z4 and could not believe how bad it chipped the sills even though I crawled along.
