Good morning All,

I have been looking on the site for this info which i have found the information to program the key to do the locking and unlocking. However, i have not seen anything on how to program the new key to start the car.

I have a JDM 2004 which only has one key now i do want to get a second. Do i have to take the car to nissan or is there an way to program the key to start as well as unlocking?

You can only program lock/unlock yourself without any equipment. For starting up car, you'll need to clone the immobiliser hence an auto locksmiths. I heard Nissan charges around £300 for a new key all programmed in. Cheaper option is to buy a 2nd hand key (£20-£30), replace the key blade (£5 for a blank, £15 to cut), get an auto locksmiths to copy/clone the immobiliser (around £100).

I know im not close to you, but if you fancy a drive down to the land of fake tan, I can add a key to your car for £20 as long as your new key has a immobiliser chip in it already (it looks like a little black piece of plastic shoved into one corner at a 45 degree angle in the keys inner housing, open up your old and new keys and you'll see what  im on about)
