ABS + TCS Light Appearing

I noticed this week that both the ABS and TCS lights appear on the dash after touching the brake pedal. Is this a common fault and is it a cheap/expensive repair to do? I am not a mechanic so wondered where I stand in terms of if any garage could fix it or if it was more specialist?

Thanks in advance for any help, it is much appreciated.

First think to do is top up your brake fluid to the absolute maximum.

Yes, this has often been the cure....sometimes needing the fluid to be up the top before overflowing.

Alex, if the pads are well worn and hence the caliper pistons are being pushed further against the pads, is that enough to trigger the warning the OP has?

Colin,

Only if the OP has not topped up the fluid to compensate for pad wear.

Could be numerous things, however the easy and cheap stuff first.
