Just got my annual insurance renewal quotation through -

Porsche 911 Carrera 2S - £267.63

Fiat 500C  Riva 110bhp  - £181.83

:) Happy with that. :)

Just got to get the Abarth down to a more reasonable figure now

Not sure if it's too late for you, but I've just renewed my insurance in the last week, and saved a fortune, so it may be a benefit to you seeing as you've another car yet to insure.

Normally, I had 7 bikes on a classic policy, 2 cars on different classic policies, and a modern runaround car on a normal policy.

I've just taken out a multi vehicle policy with Footman James, everything's on it, all agreed values bar the modern one, £515 all in.

Worth a look.

My insurance is due for renewal also. Last year I really struggle to get a decent quote on the 911 due to its modifications. Fortunately LV came in at £420 for it, then only charged me £40 to add the Mini halfway through the year.

This year cheapest i've found is £280 for a stock 997 turbo or £550 incl mods.

I've just tried to get a quote as a new client on LV`s website only to be told "sorry we dont insure that type of car" when I key in porsche 911. :scare:

So will have to give them a call and see if they no longer insure porsche`s or if they will let me renew my policy and if so how much!

Strange you should mention them - my Abarth insurance is with Adrian Flux and costs more than the Porsche and the Fiat combined !

What?? Really? They’re always boasting they can beat majority of the competitors! I’m going to give them all call anyway. How about chris knott insurance?

Get older. ;)

Yup - by about another 25 years. Wonder how old we need to be before insurance goes up again due to being doddery old fools with slow reaction times.

If my son is reading this - no comments from you please.

Fingers crossed its just some sort of oddity on their website, unless they just dont like turbos now. :( Have to say I was pretty impressed with the quote of £280 for a stock turbo. Compared to the £900 I had to pay for my 350z a few years back.

I tried them and they sounded interested in giving a good quotation. Unfortunately for me my cars are a little too new so they couldn't quote. Nice guy on the phone though and I was happy he didn't waste time getting to the point after a few questions.

Well, just got off the phone with LV and they confirm that they no longer insure Porsche 911`s (or range rovers for some reason). Seems very odd to me as I cant believe many people have made claims for 911`s over the last year compared to other cars.

So now im shopping about to get quotes for both the Porsche & the Mini. As usual, all the multi-car policies are coming back loads more than just insuring them both separately so looks like I will end up with multiple policies.

Can you not get classic car insurance policy on 911

Some companies do, but it isnt always a better deal. You cant use NCB on classic car insurance usually, which very often means higher premium. Also they are very mileage sensitive. When I first got my 911 the prices from all the "specialist" and "classic" insurance companies were about £1000ish. Unless I did only 2000 miles a year rather than the 14,000 I was doing. The mainstream insurers were quoting me around £400. The "specialists" argument were that they are experts and offer a better service. Which fair enough they may do, but £1000 compared to £400 is a big difference.
