Electric Vehicles are coming

Well duh. There’s more Teslas than any other semi-autonomous vehicles on the road, so of course they’ll have the highest rate of accidents.

It’s a bit like saying more BMWs crash than Ferraris: there’s simply more of them. Honestly, Daily Fail at their worst making an article out of that.

Guess whose high on the list

392 car crashes in the US caused by driver-assistance technology https://mol.im/a/10920169 via https://dailym.ai/android

I tired to read it but got defeated by the all the garbage.

Is there a rate per mile quoted anywhere amongst the clickbait and comparison with non-assisted?

Nope...Just general rounded number. While I cant argue there are more Teslas with Self Drive than others. Honda Toyota and Nissan have similar features but may not be equivalent but partial self drive until few years ago.

Also Toyota sell 10 million cars per year. With only few million having any form of self drive. Assuming the hybrid electric and electric vehicles which may not be more than a million to two million which Tesla sell per year. Not all Teslas have Full Self drive as its an additional paid feature. full self drive with 90 - 360 degree turning and stopping at red lights and stop signs, roundabouts, traffic jam cruising, exit lane changes etc.

The article critics itself by stating it doesn't take into account the level of autonomy and admits there are more Teslas.

The point of the article is primarily to criticize the overrating of self drive technology as safe enough for road use. That includes Waymos type taxi services. It could have been anyone coming in at top of the list. If common sense was applied by Tesla Pilots the most sold autonomous vehicles didnt necessarily need to come out on top. Seems overreliance of self drive features is clear to see.

But youve seen videos of people asleep for their full journeys to work on here. No technology is perfect sure, but why shouldn't this push for fully autonomous vehicles be criticized from a safety aspect?!

If you wish to jump in a 4 seater facing each other driverless taxi in London in future. Nothing wrong there. Im all for technology if used with common sense and fail safe safety patched in

VW aka Porsche AG now have a partnership with Rimac with Rimac having 55% plus controlling stake. To develop the next Bugatti which will probably be hybrid or electric (Bugatti Rimac project). Theres a video of a former formula 1 driver driving the Rimac. Crazy power. No soul though

Crazy cars missed a trick by not becoming a motoring journalist. I have to admit Chiron does look good. Id still take the Chiron all day everyday. W16 deep rumble than the clattering and lack of sound...Rimac is for once in the summer on a proving grounds with a winding track in the middle.

There will always be a premium on the EV stuff right now, manufacturers would be bonkers not to take advantage of early adopters while they can.

What will really hurt is when we get a mainstream performance EV that doesn’t cost a bomb. Then watch what happens…

Looks like Japanese are looking to make EV more mainstream by tapping into 2 and 2+2 roadsters and coupe EVs. Toyota/Lexus, Nissan and possibly Honda. Theyre said to come with artificial manual and some customizeability sound and lighting. Maybe Porsche will be the first to get to the market then others will follow.

Also Nissan had muscle car concept as well as Peugeot. Both EV coupes. Time will tell what price they will be if they make it to production

And yet battery life is easy to determine by plugging it in, if the on board computer doesn’t tell you anyway. Got a source for this, cos everywhere I look people are happily buying these with no concerns (or maybe they’re burying their concerns!)?

Battery rental on 12 year old Nissan Leafs etc is now a thing. Many people are paying around £40 per month to the dealer for battery rental cost depends on type of battery. Most people couldn't afford to replace the batteries at year 8. It can be from £3000 to £10,000 pounds.

Who's going to pay 30k for a 4 year old tesla

They're cheaper than that especially ex taxi with high mileage.  A family will it it comes with Tesla or similar warranty. Beats listening to chip shortage excuses. I guess they cant get the kids in Congo or South America where the lithium and cobalt comes from to work faster. Saving the environment allegedly on one hand, exploiting other countries and its children on the other!

These suit subscription model mainly. Pay a fee per month and maintain it through dealer. Thats the future for new cars. They cost too much nowadays over £50,000 to make financial sense......To own you need to either rent a battery should the original go. That's usually 7-8 years in. Can also rent a battery from dealers.
