Disconnecting the battery

If you disconnect your battery your alarm won't work? Which if your car does get stolen I bet your insurance company wouldn't be happy about. 

 

Also what's to stop them from just popping the bonnet and putting the lead back on? If you're going to do it (I wouldn't) then at least remove the negative lead completely.

Buy the cheapest one off fleaBay, Amazooon etc. They won't work unless you're about 1m away from the car so don't get too upset if you're stood next to the car pressing the buttons inside the pouch. It just stops the relay attacks. I'd still use it in conjunction with a steering lock. 

 

You can pick them up as freebies usually so wouldn't pay more than 5 quid for one or 8 quid for a pair.
