Jap to German... Sorry XD

It was going to happen at some point, thought I would just make a post to share what I've moved on to! As always any comments welcome :)

61 plate 36k miles 135i DCT M sport coupe.

Completely mint, all usual German refinements and some turbo power! Getting used to not having a clutch pedal (only gone to press if a few times), the dct gearbox is lightning and hardly noticeable in normal auto mode.

Feels everybit of 300bhp and 300lb/ft, uses just as much fuel as the Z did so no shocks there

Mods already taking place, almost in 2 minds whether to modify it as it is so clean... But needs must everything on order. Aftermarket intake, decat downpipes, eibach springs, big front mount intercooler, front lip and Zito 935 (csl style) wheels. Future mapping potential to approx. 20psi of boost, gains of +80bhp and +100lb/ft!!! Not used to them sort of gains B)

Nice. I love these high speed auto boxes. B)

They're great fun, maybe not on par with a manual on a back road but pull the paddles and it's more engaging that I thought!

I originally intended to buy a BMW Z4 M coupe but the prices steered me towards a 370Z.

My old man has a z4m coupe, just bought at the right time

I really like the look and shape of these, I was looking to get one last year but ended up getting an e46 m3 instead.

I may get one next though I think. Never had a turbo or auto car before and the theres quite abit of tuning potential.

Excellent choice :D

Look into M3 LCA's, big improvement for not a lot of money, while youre there fit M3 ARB's as well and if you can do it an M3 diff and its a world of difference.
Do you need downpipes for 100hp extra? Its a bitch of a job even on an N55 .........

Thanks :)

Just getting to grips with the car and now running NS2R tyres which is a bit different and I'm not sure how well I'm going to get on with them...

I've heard M3 bits fit so I'll probably be looking into that!

I think on N55 you need downpipes as they don't quite respond to mods quite as well as the N54 engine, just from what I've read? Going for the noise too as the standard system is staying... For now

Mine had NS2Rs on it when I got it actually, they arent too bad at all but I seem to remember got worse as they got older. Ive got an N54 135i and youre right, N55 dont respond to tuning quite as well but I thought you could see 400hp without the downpipe, I may well be wrong though

www.babybmw.net is the best forum but they are not huge modders on there, I wrote this https://www.babybmw.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=20&t=98187&p=1268052&hilit=camber#p1268052 on mine and theres a feller with an N55 making some good progress too: https://www.babybmw.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=19&t=60071&p=1490121#p1490121

You will love this car, Im sure

I've had a bit of a play and the NS2R seem better than the Dunlop run flat on the oem wheels

Just made myself a member on there in the past week, no match for the mighty 350z forum though ;)

Sure I'll have some great fun with it, lots to play about with and some turbo fun which is different!

My brother has an M135i on a 63 plate it's a very quick car. We went to see his friend who owns a specialist garage to see about a remap, he was told with just a remap and no other mods it would go from 315bhp to about 380bhp.

Same N55 engine I believe? Think I'll fit everything and see how mad it can go

Going for a proper dyno tune so will be real figures :)

I miss my 123d coupe, that was a cracking car. That was a 61 plate also. I had it from virtually new up until I part-ex`d it for my 911 3 years ago. A lot of people dont like the M Sport suspension and say its too hard, but when its just yourself in the car I found it was perfect and handled like it was on rails.

Not on par no, ...the auto's better imho. Faster 0-60, faster shifting and flat shifting.

Love my auto and I was a die hard manual fan before.

That's an understatement for sure. ;)

@reeceybeaney don't mention you're getting de-cats otherwise it'll be a witch hunt. :lol:

Yep the forum isn't as good generally as this one but there is some good info available on there as well as a fair few members with good knowledge of the cars/engines etc.

I'm on there ~ same username as on here. Enjoy the new BM.

Thought I'd share a nice pretty graph :)

The car is a torque machine now! Was expecting higher bhp figures, so was the tuner. Have been told I can go back to visit for another run in the cooler weather as ambient temps were pretty high!

All in all though the car has been seriously woken up and picks up speed scarily quickly

3rd car this year (still German tho) - 350z to 135i, and now in the car I should have bought after the 350z... E92 M3 :teeth:

Gorgeous car, right spec with a proper manual and edc and a few other bits of course! Got a reasonable deal on it and just feels special... Making friends with the petrol station guy even more now :surrender:
