As promised more tool modifications going on to bore you to tears

Took some old bolts

IMG_2457.JPG.55911bfa1c9fb334060a32ea219d1a29.JPG

and made a plate

IMG_2459.JPG.4607b3f673f6cf90e9b6702c0908e782.JPG

welded some more plates and the box together to make this ..........

IMG_2460.JPG.fc973e7648636bec3c60e7305de49eeb.JPG

Added legs and wheels

IMG_2462.JPG.cf52c46afef602cde39bd79c05f7a62d.JPG

Can you guess what it is?????

Click to find out

Spoiler

Yes it's the Swiss army knife of metal fabrication incorporating a metal roller, pneumatic  planashing hammer and a shrinker/stretcher all on one stand with wheels, so I can tuck it in a corner and roll it out when required.

Got a few bits to finish on it this weekend so if you haven't fallen asleep or committed ritual seppuku due to boredom tune in again soon :lol:

In other news the speed controller for my bead roller arrived and to be fair a day earlier than it was supposed to, so that's on the cards for finishing this weekend, if I can get out of "decorating the tree" :scare:

Thanks @andybp

Another few million like you and I'll be as popular as Terry Pratchett

Please feel free to move closer and bring your milling machine with you :lol:

Anyways it's 7:30AM on Saturday so I'm going to sneak out to the Shed before the rest of the family get up and rope me into this decorating malarkey

Have a fun day all.

To keep from getting bored I cleaned the Shed II out again and changed a gearbox on a 350z for a forum member that made the pilgrimage down

Thanks again for that, much appreciated, good to see the hallowed turf of the shed!

Note: when changing brake pads, do not for the life of god let the caliper pin retaining clip ping across the workshop when you pull it out. You then need to acquire a very understanding wife in the shape of Kim to methodically sweep up and locate the pin in the pile of dust and other metal detritus laying on the floor

You see this is why I keep her around

Great to see you down at the Shed welcome back any time

Hope the Gearbox is still smooth and the brakes are good :)

To be fair, she worked extremely hard all day, you both did, i felt kinda useless half the time  but didn't want to interfere with the surgery!

Brakes are loooovely! Gearbox is a little bit crunchy into 6th, not nowhere near as bad as my original box, and the other gear are a lot smoother, so im happy ;)

Well good evening, Had a busy weekend

IMG_2544.JPG.38b1773ebbcf64b959c1c226759b3d00.JPG

Didn't get away with not putting the lights up and this

IMG_2546.JPG.6c8a2e75eb9e57f9a4eb311b9e4f5073.JPG

Showed up :scare:

Anyway onto some other bits,

My speed controller arrived

IMG_2504.JPG.b05e26276168a35f7649dfaefde23689.JPG

I decided it needed protecting and according to Google maps my local screw fix had one of these

IMG_2505.JPG.209469a52e4448ce13748e354f277745.JPG

in stock and only 2.57 miles away, the problem with that was I recorded 37 miles to collect it, - #GT-R

I really should stop using it to pop to the shops it's costing a fortune in fuel

anyway when I eventually got back

IMG_2506.JPG.4343ca3a9377a3e46cdddfac7a68e806.JPG

How much wiring for a simple motor!!!!!!

IMG_2510.JPG.9b05ab6ce6e36c6906c8c2409b2bf081.JPG

I got it all done and mounted

IMG_2513.JPG.508d7d1111f7fc64a1e5b9417ded5023.JPG

IMG_2514.JPG.914525e639ea02ffc1f5227507cc879e.JPG

IMG_2515.JPG.65183e53ecb33efe39f135b91a905aff.JPG

Please note the Green dust on the switch, thats how long that has been laying around the Shed waiting to find a home :)

IMG_2516.JPG.39fb97699dafdbc833a2d5ead2527ae2.JPG

IMG_2516.JPG.39fb97699dafdbc833a2d5ead2527ae2.JPG

wiring all neat and out of the way

Made these

IMG_2518.JPG.fb0052064e2616775e7ed196d365da63.JPG

so I don't need spanners, they fit like so

IMG_2521.JPG.23102d1c85a7e5bd6ca4b965aa7e3b0f.JPG

Had to cut down the T bar as it would interfere with the metal passing through.

I then added a spring return

IMG_2519.JPG.1ca737d63e0ac486c0fbbd6c4375aed8.JPG

and put it all together

IMG_2520.JPG.5770591e3c289be38c889682d853e86d.JPG

Tested it and it works

More in a mo :)

Back on the multi tool, I wanted to do some work on the shrinker/stretcher

IMG_2471.JPG.4bb634191065614c75c70cc74179bc70.JPG

I have long arms but I cant push the bar to full range without standing at the side of it, I want to be in front of it and I want to use both hands - that's a lot of "I want" but I want it OK

IMG_2474.JPG.eed34effbeed5d8c916713401a6536d0.JPG

Lets take this -

IMG_2476.JPG.8500a315db0b43724a4ac9b68e684b06.JPG

To the untrained eye it may look like an old piece of rusty rebar from the scrap pile but it's not if you cut it off

IMG_2477.JPG.3ec0f8df29a62e54c86f79109a4847ba.JPG

then run it through the lathe, hiding underneath the rust is a duplicate of the original hand lever

IMG_2479.JPG.5696e73232ad0a0d0e56baa270b6f971.JPG

IMG_2478.JPG.f21c2c213601275a9a4a3d86ab4ee876.JPG

See :)

With the application of heat you can make it into a new design feature

IMG_2481.JPG.2c4fbb6bdfb83eca871a2ce7848e6393.JPG

A few tests to get angles sorted out -

IMG_2488.JPG.c92d6e9de7e828bb475ee791168bc965.JPG

That was a fail moved the second bar to the lower leg

IMG_2489.JPG.0e5840194c1f9a29cff11e5497536b58.JPG

That was much better

Added a captive nut

IMG_2490.JPG.40e2eb1e5c8697a97001a6533eabe53b.JPG

then made a top link

IMG_2491.JPG.aa6e5d3907c0cb38be8bd11b8d4c1ad2.JPG

a return spring

IMG_2492.JPG.3acf750b6caeef275512046150cb1372.JPG

and a pedal

IMG_2493.JPG.333454656852613c27a2ca1f29b6fa24.JPG

something like this

IMG_2494.JPG.54b0b35a97db17f99346c006ca5b583e.JPG

needed some paint and these to guides to stop it twisting

IMG_2496.JPG.1683c4b2c8a0e9c12b4f7532bdaada1e.JPG

IMG_2497.JPG.e8ab6836b075db5dfc7232a9b8423898.JPG

IMG_2498.JPG.7a8bfc6c1149d7550e6baa970c52cfd1.JPG

I now have a foot operated shrinker/stretcher

punch and then clamp for welding

IMG_2542.JPG.3cadbbac1daaa509bbee803929adacbf.JPG

Bit of paint and the first one is done :)

IMG_2543.JPG.6c210affc804af132ac6e432a202b956.JPG

Should have welded it from the bottom - I'll do that on the other side, but it's all good and the tools appear to do the job, might need a bit (a lot) of practice to get my eye back in for the huge amount of bodywork I have lined up but it will be fun trying.

As one of the four I'd like to say keep up the good work

and on a side note that selfish git ;) chris (cs2000) could have picked me up on the way past (well past_ish) the other week to get his gearbox done and I could have visited

:)

What's funny is I got 4 replies from 4 members - another 2 and I'll start a fan club

Luv you guys

More adventures soon.

@Jay84  I think of my exploits as comic book like, or comical at least   so I think your analogy is spot on :)

Think I might actually do some chassis work this weekend :scare:

Stay tuned ;)
