Make a mess though

I blame @andy james as he is building this -

It's a cunning plan - wife wants a porch, I want a parking spot for the GT-R

I had an old Ford I was going to use some parts off but changed my mind - strange way to get rid of it though!!

In other news ...................................

After an overheating issue and a power loss in the Radical at the end of last year we inspected the engine and found low compression (read no compression) in two cylinders.

It appears the valve was not working quite right....

IMG_1763.JPG.bb7021d6239c8ead6a19f333cbd16288.JPG

So new head was sorted complete with upgraded valve guides 2mm oversized inlet an 1mm oversized zorst valves machined compression chambers and ported

IMG_2846.JPG.0ee478614f4046b61e3555b57ae261fb.JPG

Put new stainless valves and turbo springs in that to go with the turbo cams.

Complete engine refresh, new rings, new crank (ours had scoring) and copleteley rbuilt.

IMG_2831.JPG.78bbee98ae290a3c1d0e02b9fd4083f3.JPG

That is now fitted

IMG_2848.JPG.73ca199af78c6006689321cd56e98977.JPG

We also had some work done on the exhaust it's a long story but the manifold got bent/misshaped and we changed the design of the waste gate

Repairs to manifold

IMG_2839.jpg.d111290ca1f2fce9319bc5d18e3f3649.jpg

We also welded it to the turbo housing as it keeps loosening  the bolts and blowing gaskets

New waste gate pipe work

Fired up the mill

We can make something out of this :)

IMG_2864.jpg.71f21007d7640c557961ef6247d1f027.jpg

IMG_2866.jpg.23f81b8b80df90b9bfa5b964eeb4974c.jpg

new holder for the pressure sensor complete with pipe guide

Lastly we added a tyre temp and pressure monitor below the dash

IMG_2871.jpg.f1b405276bd40ca1821b80ed2e752f53.jpg

Then the Radical was put in the trailer and moved off to my mates house until the Zorst parts get back and @andy james finishes the work in the front garden.

Hopefully have her ready for track by the time the weather improves

What tyre pressure/temp system are you using? I had a look awhile back and most of the them are just the screw in caps rather than a proper system or a horrid little display. I fancy fitting one to my DE, I'm always too lazy to check the pressures myself!

This is the one with the valve caps, not sure on the make, Tim (the guy I share ownership of the Radical with) decided we needed one so he got it, I'll try and find out the make for you though

Cool curious to hear what the quality is like, i'd assumed the cap based solutions weren't as accurate as the inside ones :)

I'll let you know after the next track day we take an infra red thermometer with us so we can see if its accurate

@MDMetal - If youre looking for your 350/370/GTR/any Nissan, get one of these

https://www.aliexpress.com/item/CAREUD-U912-Auto-Wireless-TPMS-Tire-Pressure-Monitoring-System-with-4-Sensors-LCD-Display-Embedded-Monitor/32772765384.html

They fit in the switch blanks, in my case, ive put it next to the heated seat switches in the armrest/centre console space. Been in there since 2016 in my Z!

In other News, The front garden remodel may not be going quite to plan :scare:

Started off looking like this after the Zed Shed was removed (RIP)

So I asked @andy james If he could help with improve the look of the front of the house and give it some more curb appeal,

So Andy and Tim were at 2 weeks in -  I'm not so sure he understood the look we were going for -

AfterLol.JPG.75c06c6295428d9c40167e5e9108ee03.JPG

Apparently its a work in progress and you have to break a few eggs to make an omelette etc etc :scare:

But to be fair the end of the 3rd week and after I did a few jobs it's starting to look better

OK OK I'm sorry guys n gals

:sorry:

I haven't been updating my thread of much tinkering BUT I have managed to get out of the GT-R (mod for that in progress) and into the garage and now finally catch you up on a few things.

So lets get started -

The Zed Shed II has been crammed with cars, garden stuff and miscellaneous things for a while while we finished the work on the house big shout out to @andy james for another excellent job and at last we have had the drive done and it is now usable again

But before they layed the Tarmac I gout out the Fisher Price My First Tool Box and had a go -

IMG_3004.jpg.bad3f11c3d75c0224d5525adefe6e33c.jpg

That turned into -

IMG_3062.jpg.62e60f5a53f5ba606a1ab477d89aba7c.jpg

Just waiting for the felt roofer so it's waterproofed with damp course membrane at the moment

But the finished drive looks awesome

IMG_3079.jpg.36ff1fbdf358945fc23996926f3ad277.jpg

In other news and another reason I've been to busy to post, someone drove straight out of a side road in front of Mrs Keyser :scare:

IMG_2994.jpg.5f29dd3d1d11c5c68b9a519026a5bf1b.jpg

Yep another Nissan off to the big scrap yard in the sky :(

So we have been playing the "lets fill in lots of paper work and make a lot of phone calls to the insurance company" game.

Plus been out shopping for a new motor for Mrs Keyser, found one and deposit is paid just waiting for the insurance cheque now

More in a mo ...................

Keyser
