More tomorrow (as soon as I sneak out of the shopping trip to Ikea :scare::ninja::lol:

Whats happening with this? are you still stuck in Ikea's one way system? I would have thought that a man of your calibre and military history would be able to escape the clutches of the big yellow & blue building.

Would be a bit embarrassing if we have to call the SAS to come and rescue you!

No I managed to get out of the trip to Ikea, but then had to spend the day building all that flat pack furniture, since then all my best efforts to do some more in the Shed have been thwarted by surprise NOT parties and work :(

Hopefully I'll get a chance to pick it up again soon

That explains how you get so much work done compared to most people, you have super human speed!

That's not speed up either I need to increase from 50 frames per second it just can't keep up

I know its been Christmas and all, but is this finished yet!

Joking of course, just love to see what amazing specialised tool you've been creating this time around, Wouldn't surprise me if that bead roller wasn't torque'y enough after your earlier motorised mods, so you created a massive adaptor and strapped the LS to it, complete with a Z acceleration pedal of course!

yea come on pull your finger out or did you have too many mince pies and just can't move yet :bounce:

:)

OK lets just clear a few things up here -

No it's not finished yet!!

No more tools built (I have done a bit on the chassis though)

It has nothing to do with mince pies ............................... Why you ask? well you have this available where I was for Christmas

IMG_2704.jpg.bfcf053bc33149590e7eb2a468449925.jpg

IMG_2701.jpg.d67fd91959427416c8d194decb4296b3.jpg

IMG_2703.jpg.a4fc29eb7b4cd3df61fb30369b9173aa.jpg

So instead of mince pies I'd have breakfast

IMG_2818.jpg.7980bd9c0720ce8a4d68d2116c996708.jpg

Then desert

IMG_2814.jpg.eb9aafc7655a85a4aab8d57d59e20450.jpg

then as its Christmas another desert

IMG_2815.jpg.0d66c3edc095dfc43b48358fd8141203.jpg

That set me up  nicley to go look at stuff like -

IMG_2731.jpg.43aa431d372dda5b9f02c93dd2ca6769.jpg

IMG_2733.jpg.c1d4bc1e6bc0b10494d1cd9a1e61dbcd.jpg

IMG_2788.jpg.9066a8bc259776b0f83e22f75086e341.jpg

So that's why it is not finished and why it has nothing to do with to many mince pies - possibly to many banoffee waffles or chocolate pancakes but not mince pies

A more car related update may follow soon if I can roll myself over to the camera with the pics on it

OK Then as you have all put on weight just by looking at the pictures above sit back and digest the small amount of progress made -

I finished off the front suspension arms and removed the frame -

IMG_2652.jpg.6e7302c747c9431d5bd7ab135b1fe724.jpg

Then a test fit

IMG_2653.jpg.5c86f5fe9201b8c5653f08caaad33b46.jpg

IMG_2654.jpg.03dcef2af018b40b24b0546efabb8db5.jpg

IMG_2652.jpg.6f19a9a8742e59d2d2d30b63ee7ca996.jpg

Added the ARB carriers and the ARB

IMG_2664.jpg.0883411c3c79abc0e4905aade85bb008.jpg

Then I took it all apart and checked the symmetry (big word for me  )

IMG_2660.jpg.bc5b49368d3ec990caec23c2a7db8fa4.jpg

IMG_2658.jpg.5a3af9c02cff1ba6c0ca5f756a34ae34.jpg

Well happy with that just need to trim the top plate

IMG_2659.jpg.33e2aa42ee779468229f3073360eaa85.jpg

That done I went onto the rear frame that I hadn't finished.

After measuring up wrong (I'm only human) the rear spring hangers had to be moved leaving a bit of a hole

Made a fill in piece

IMG_2681.jpg.acc37373ae5f8519496d894c687bf27a.jpg

weld and clean up (you'd never know I cocked up :)

Hi All

Overdue update :sorry:

As i Have far too many projects and you lot seem to like seeing my antics I thought I'd just keep them all together

I have done a bit on the pop I'm just not showing you lot yet as you will no doubt think I have lost the plot (spoiler - I have)

Slowing down the Pop project is phase 1 of a top secrete project that @andybp is helping me out with :ninja:

However Phase 1 was completed when this arrived -

IMG_2842.jpg.4f8f106ba61577bbc2e1ac1469659be9.jpg

Out with the old

IMG_2840.jpg.07bf00f34980c452404f78387ea6af1a.jpg

In with the new

SMFU6488.jpg.6a900aee156a252ea7df045da89d668f.jpg

Spot the difference? No nor can I

My Milling machine motor bearings are dying and the bed transverse feed is so worn it wobbles, The parts just for the motor were over £700 and then the bed would need work, I ended up chatting with a guy local to me that sells engineering equipment as well as servicing them he offered me a part exchange on mine which cost less than the parts (let alone labour) to repair mine.

So that was a no brainer and I did the deal - just need to get it wired back in and I'm good to go

Hey did you just throw me under the bus ?

Using my name along with words like slowing the project down.

And after I offered you humanitarian aid as well

:)

No not at all - well maybe a little  That slowed down the Pop project but not other antics so we are all good

Hmmm you offered Humanitarian aid but The PM said we had a Brexit deal - Just saying neither have actually happened yet

OK then,

Stand by to cringe :scare:

Now it was pointed out to me by someone that shall remain anonymous @andybp that I was basically building a 350z chassis from the ground up, this is all well and good but will it fit into the pop shell?

Well the simple answer is no - not a hope in hell, did I let that slow me down? No

So now I have front and rear suspension mounts made I got the shell off the old chassis and into the Zed Shed - a few measurements show that the bracing on it was not sufficient or stresses since they were fitted have caused it to bend out of alignment so add straightening it up again to the list of problems

IMG_2686.JPG.bf63954778baa309d3291051e5616e5b.JPG

Anyway a few more measurements and the afore mentioned busy body :lol:and my suspicions proved correct - it aint gonna fit the body is to narrow for the new running gear!

So I came up with a solution (some may say it's OTT)

IMG_2687.JPG.29d306f125dba02ba74224b4eb39f304.JPG

IMG_2688.JPG.cb9d912e43c613bf656917aec4212ab7.JPG

IMG_2689.JPG.0030f05552dd9a70924e8604735030b2.JPG

IMG_2690.JPG.d18e9a92a70471c495e6624daa5a5e38.JPG

Bloody wide enough now isn't it :scare::lol:

So the theory is lay it over the suspension and fill in the gap in the middle

Stay tuned to see how that goes

I'd say so!!

A buddy of mine did this to a MK1 MR2 many years ago. He had a shell laying around (as you do), and had an old Jag (?) V12. So he sliced the MR2 down the middle and wang'ed the V12 in the back. It was unreal!!
