350z insurance quote question

Recommended Posts

Hello!

I'm new to the forum and i am looking at buying a 350z in the next couple of months. Ive been quoting around lately with some number plates of various Zs and been getting things around the 2000 pound mark. With 200 pound monthly payments it's doable for me. However i have done some more quotes today and they've all gone up to 3000 pounds which is way out of my price range. My question is why has it gone up and will they go back down over the next couple of months?

BONUS QUESTION:

This will also be my first time learning and modding a car with the help of some other friends, but how does adding modifications work with insurance? will i need to find an insurer that will accept me making modifications or do most of them allow it?

Im 21 at the moment but will be 22 when at the time i'm thinking about purchasing the car and I'll have 2 years NCB. I've been putting my details in as if we're 2 months ahead and i'm already 22 with the 2 year NCB though.

Not all insurers allow mods: As a general rule, it’s the cheaper ones that don’t or get extremely fussy/expensive if you do try and add a mod to your policy. Companies like Sky, Adrian Flux, REIS etc are good as gold but you will be paying more for the privilege.

You’ll have to ask each one individually really, unless they’re a specialist. You should be able to do a general Meerkat-style quote where you can add on the mods you intend to do, and get an idea of how much the premiums would go up by.

Definitely try the 'mod' happy insurers like the ones mentioned above, Adrian Flux, Sky etc.

They specialise in modified cars and are more competitive for that. I've found in the past these companies are more expensive for standard cars and freely admit they can't be competitive in that market.

You MIGHT therefore find that one of those insurers will give you a better price if the Z already has a few light mods.

I'm 22 - 4 years NCB - insured with admiral with aftermarket exhaust declared for £750.

It all greatly varies depending on where you're located though, so it's not easy for anyone here to advise tbh!

Admiral are pretty good on mods, only costs a few quid to add some fairly hefty modifications, but they will only restore the car to stock if you were to crash it.

Hi and welcome.

Please feel free to give us a try for insurance if you like. If you wanted to PM me some contact details I'd be happy to arrange for one of my quotes team to give you a call back.

Regards,

Dan.
