Anybody done their own rust proofing?

Hey all =)

I am looking at cleaning and rust proofing the underside of my tree fiddy and wondered if anybody else had done the same?

Although generally I know it is a case of dropping the exhaust and getting to work with wire brushes before using a converting agent and then sealing it all, I was recommended to use a different product for seams / box sections than on the flat and easy to treat ones.  Not really knowing much about the underside or box sections (or anything else for that matter!), I'm concerned that I might miss something vital before sealing it all and fail to arrest further rust from developing somewhere (there are already some parts underneath that look severely rusted that will need replacing).

So, has anybody else done it and know anything about where the seams / box sections are? :)
