Budget 50' TV

So after 6 years almost exactly, our trusty LG 50PK590 has decided to randomly turn itself off, wait and can be turned back on but then after a few minutes off again. This weekend I'm going to buy it's replacement and another 50' unit.

Any recommendations? not overly interested in voice control, hand gestures, webcam and doesn't need to have the best operating system or apps as il be using the Amazon fire stick anyways.

Budget £500-£600

Bye bye PK590.......

I've been looking at these Hisense for some time, seems like a good buy. Picture quality was pretty good and sharp when i view them in store, but not sure about reliability as they are not in the market for over 10 years i think. http://ao.com/product/h50n5900-hisense-tv-silver-49755-108.aspx They are pretty cheap for the spec they offer. With lots of spare £££ left.

However, i always go for Samsung =) http://ao.com/product/ue50mu6120-samsung-tv-black-50970-108.aspx with £1 spare to spend on your zed

Hisense are cheap for a reason... But then I won't say I've not considered them myself too. Like Veeg though, I always default to a Samsung screen. They're generally the best out there for my purposes, well set up and well made with good opportunities to adjust the picture for the best visual definition.

That said, and I've said this before on here, you need to go try some models out first hand. Pop to Currys or wherever nice and early, take your favourite BD or Xbox game with you, and compare them across multiple screens. Of course they'll all be setup for that super-contrast nuclear winter demo modes, but you can still get a good idea on what works and what doesn't. What is good for one person's eye may well be crap for another, so use your own to decide as ultimately you're the one who's going to be watching stuff on it.

Argos clearance section on their website usually comes up with some good TV deals if you're not after the very latest tech, got a really good deal on my 55" Samsung as there was a new model of it that had just come out. Click and collect from your local store too which is handy

I'm currently wanting that lg oled 55" it's £400 off for a grand total of £1600 :scare::scare:  but then again that could be a new set of wheels.

Cheers all, will have a good look about and see what's what tomorrow. Don't fancy a new brand telly and will most likely settle on an LG, Samsung or Sony unit.

Not much content out there from what I gather, but 4k seems like a no brainstorm if costs aren't too much.

OLED give by far the best picture quality purely because blacks actually look black rather than dull grey etc. I love our LG OLED panel, picked it up for £1400 a few months ago, beats the even the Kuro panel I had for a while.

Just seen this deal, £1200!!

Went for a Samsung 50' MU6100 from Electronic World TV. Was hoping to buy from Richer Sounds with their extended warranty, however only their Bristol branch had stock *collection only.

So far has its pros and cons against the old plasma, but happy with the purchase. Plasma has better skin tones and I think a glass screen looks nicer. The LED unit wins everywhere else, processing power is fantastic compared, upscaling works really well with 1080p, kinda like 1080p+. The smart remote will take some getting used to mind, but all in good time I guess.
