Alloy wheel refurbishment warning.

I am just writing this post as a warning for anyone who lives in the north west UK, I needed the back wheels on my 370z dipped and coated due to a small amount of corrosion ,after reading reviews of Foundry alloys in Widnes I decided to use them, they had 20 reviews on Yell.com 19 of them 5 out of 5, 1 review 4 out of 5.

I took the car to foundry alloys and they said no problem matching the back with the front original wheel finish, after taking the car down to the company on the 3rd time due to them cancelling my appointment They undertook the job.

When I went to pick the car up the next day the back wheels were a flat matt grey and a very rough finish, a totally different colour and finish to the front originals.

When I challenged the bloke who did them he said he could see no difference, even my Dad who dropped me off said they were a disgrace.

I took the car to a company in Warrington who said they were the worst match and finish they had ever seen and wouldn't undertake a fix as they couldn't guarantee their work due to what foundry alloys had done to them.

I went onto Yell .com and gave Foundry alloys a review of 1 out of 5( would have been 0 but 1 was the lowest) I checked Yell.com tonight to see if I had had any response to the review and found my review wasn't present.

I am writing this as I don't want people to go through the rubbish I had to and now I wouldn't believe any Yell.com reviews as they must only use the good ones.

In the end I went to the Wheel Specialist in Chester who were expensive but did an excellent job.

certain review sites allow companies to vet which reviews are shown, which is ridiculous.

Sorry to hear of the poor service but I don't understand why the second company said no to the work. Surely all refurbs blast off the finish so you're basically back to metal and the they start again. Foundrys cr@p work shouldn't therefore matter

I would revisit Foundry Alloys and suggest to them that you will arrange for  a third party inspection of the match, typically by AA, RAC or Nissan main dealer and if they agree with him then you will accept the wheels and pay his price. However they agree with you then he must pay for any  third party costs and redo your wheels to your satisfaction.

ps I'm sure there is equipment available in the car paint match industry which would show up any mis match.

GET TOUGH and don't stand for shoddy service.

Please do NOT use this company. Do NOT be sucked in by the positive Yell Reviews or Kyle's matey attitude. Completely messed me about and ripped me off. Corroding alloys were causing my tyres to lose pressure so needed alloys refurbished. Only happening on two but decided to have all four done. Read Yell Reviews and decided on Foundry. I live and work in Warrington and this place is not open weekend so bit of a pain to get to. Arranged to take car on a Sunday because midweek was going to be a problem. He cancelled on me on the day. Managed to sort a lift during midweek but told him I had to be in work by 8.30. He opens at 9 but said he'd be there by 8. He wasn't and I had to ring him up. He was 25 min late. Had my car for 3 days. Went to pick car up and from the outside alloys looked good. Paid cash 260 with no receipt (Yes my fault but trusted him) and drove it away presuming job was done. Week later tyre pressure was going down so I thought it must be the tyre. The tread was very low on two anyway so decided to change at local garage. Told them I had had alloys done very recently. When they took the tyres off the alloys had not been treated. I was fuming. Rang Kyle up and asked him what was going on. He said he did not know and arranged for me to bring them in that week to sort it out. Wanted to give him a chance to put it right so we arranged a date in the following week. Had to arrange lifts with colleagues from work to be there by 8.30. I rang him and texted him a number of times the night before to confirm everything would be ok for the following day. He did eventually got back to me to tell me he coud not do it because his mum had just been taken into hospital. Sorry but I do not believe him. I have ended getting the job done locally for 170 pound.  Stay well clear of Foundry.
