Marks/scratch removal on alloys help!

Hi all, I have these strange scratch type marks on my alloys. They were on it when I bought the car so I'm not quite sure where they have came from or what's caused them (possibly stones flying around the dish?). Has anyone seen anything similar on their wheels and what do you think would be best to remove them? Cheers lads.

Yep......I had that on my diamond cut Kia rims

Corrosion where the lacquer has failed and "white worm" is creeping in.

Kia replaced the rims under warranty.

I got a feeling you have three options.

Leave as is

Full refurbishment.

Polish off the lacquer to bare metal meaning very regular polishing of the lip as it will oxidise like a bugger with no lacquer on.

Hope I'm proved wrong.

 

Ps. If it was me I'd consider a refurb without a polished lip but maybe a shadow chrome type colour lip giving the lacquer a better surface to key on to.

Yeah white worm sounds familiar, I knew there was a name for it. It's really horrendous looking.

 

I thought there might have been a quick fix but them hopes have been dashed

 

I don't think I could leave it as it is, every time I walk past my car it's the first thing I always notice so something has to be done. I'll probably go for a full refurb at some stage. Cheers for the advice bud.

Yep, that's lacquer failure. A refurb is on the cards for you I'm afraid.
