looks an impressive list of parts , having the block line bored as your fitting main studs? full balance of engine dynamic parts I hope as well?

We just built a coiple of VHR for race cars using HR heads on the VHR block still running Ecutek with added engine safety, fuel and oil temp limp modes together with lean trip

Hi Mark,

Yes we're on all that, it'll be having the same treatment as my engine build.

We were going to check the effects with distortion switching to the ARP mains before committing one way or the other........is some distortion something you've seen before? How much tighter does it make things on the vertical clearances?

I have always seen 1/4 to 1/2 thou change in measurements, it isn't just in the vertical clearances that changes when fitting studs. I am not a big user on Main studs TBH.

OK cheers. Makes sense it effects out of round all over too.

We’ll see which way we go with this then.

So finally had chance to drop the engine off to the machine shop today with @350Butcher

It's gone to https://ricwood.com/ for the work my buddy has him build all his race engines so he should be good enough for my old z😅 we also managed to find time for a good old breakfast to fuel us up

The engine should be back in a couple of weeks and the build can start going in the right direction ready for summer 🌞

Nice pics, it looks pristine.

I'll be stripping my block down over Christmas and was wondering;

Did you fit new rings on the same pistons or did you need a rebore and oversized pistons?

Did you get away with std main & big-end bearings on the crank?

Block was bored to take new JE pistons and we used the black ...I think they are grade 1 bearings on the crank

Bit of progress yesterday and a few quality hours in @350Butcher aka butchers performance shop/shed and the heads are on

Just need to clean a few more bits this week and then hopefully get it closed up.

Some close ups of the ARP 625s and the dynosty gaskets hopefully they will never need to be seen again

😁
