Stuck installing Sony single din using ICT harness on Bose

Hey all, firstly I've searched on forum but a lot of the guides have pics missing at mo.

Apologise but this the first time attempting anything like this, so please simplify for me if poss.

1. I'm replacing Bose head unit only, keeping everything else standard.

2. I've bought a Sony single din stereo

3. I've bought the ICT harness with steering wheel control and the Sony Patch lead.

4. I've bought the single din faceplate adapter.

I've uninstalled everything from the dash, and Bose unit is out.

I've fitted the Sony stereo into the single din adapter.

Now I'm stuck on connecting the harnesses.

5. The sony stereo came with the following lead: See pic. 1669

I'm stuck because the sony lead has two black plugs, but the ICT lead only has one black plug to connect to the sony - meaning there's a spare plug thats going know where.

Question is:

a. Do I need to cutting and soldering wires together to do this install?

b. Is it relatively simple and if so how do I work what wire needs to go where?

c. Can it be done in half a day - considering I've not done anything like this before.

OR can I trust Halfords to carry out this install - or go to a audio specialist.

I have to get it finished by Monday as I'm taking the car abroad - so please advise.

Cheers

The harness you have purchased will only have one plug on it as the there should be a a bunch of phonos that plug instead.

Basically the spare plug u have at the Sony end is for the speakers but with the Bose system you are use the sub outputs phono out puts instead.

Now the problem you have with doing it this way is that the sound will be pretty low so the the way around this is to chop the end off ur phono plugs and solder them to a connector which will plug into the spare Sony plug.

If u search on the forum there is a guide on how to do it

Thanks guys.

temporarily - I'm now just thinking for speeds sake to just use the regular harness without steering wheel controls - which has two adapters which seems to be plug and play - unless its' a defo no no - I don't want to damage circuits etc.

Once I have more time, I'm going to attempt to shed red mod.
