Rich260 Posted November 19, 2015 Author Share Posted November 19, 2015 Cheers mate I got a 115mm dronco polishing kit for my grinder, only £16 so I thought I'd give it a go. It comes with 3 discs, first one being quite course to flatten off the metal, the second one to smooth it out further. Then there's a LOT of wet sanding by hand, starting off at 600 grit then working all the way up to 1200. I used a drill attachment to get in to the harder to reach areas but as I say the job is far from perfect. I was a bit naive in thinking it would be an easy'ish job but I certainly wouldn't do it again, I'd pay the £99 swap for one of the mopped Mark ones as his look perfect and rely are a bargain given the work it takes as a DIY even with a grinder. I know, the throttle body now looks awful, that will getting sent off shortly. It's a never ending story as you know, I'll do the TB then that will make the next thing look bad and so on..... They clearly need to be painted and I think the only way to go is black. The question is do I colour code them to the car or go for a satin black finish? Today I finally got round to fitting my new MeisterR coilovers, SPL front camber arms and ebay special adjustable drop links. I have previously run BC BR series on my e46 and was very impressed with them, no issues in over 4 years so they were looking like a strong contender. After seeing MeisterR is sponsor of this forum my interest was peeked as I've never heard of them before and after a quick google and forum search I didn't find any bad reviews. After speaking with Edwin and Jerrick they recommended I go for the Zelta-S set up instead of the R's as my car is mainly used for street rather than a ball's out tack monster. I was very impressed with their knowledge and their honesty, there was no real pressure to sell, they seemed more interested in helping me make an informed decision on what to go for. So about the coilovers, they arrived the day after I ordered them, super fast delivery! The quality look amazing and the anodised red is very nice indeed, seems a shame to hide them away under the wheel arches! Fitting was as straight forward as can be expected, took me a couple of attempts to get the ride height I was after (and I'll still end up tweaking it tomorrow). I really like the remote damper adjusters for the rears, they almost look OEM on the rear strut. I also took the opportunity to snow foam and jet wash the inner wheel arches which are now spotless! I gave everything a liberal coating of Scottoiler FS365 corrosion protector to to keep away rust. I haven't taken it out yet so can't comment on the ride. Once it's had a week or two to settle I'll be getting it booked in for a full set up @Abbey Motorsport. I'm also in the process of polishing up a Buddy Club Pro Spec exhaust to give me a bit more noise, the previous owner said it was very loud which I don't doubt, but looking at the gaskets or lack of gaskets I think it was quite a bit louder than it should have been! Ta, mate I'm not 100% on the vents myself but they are growing on me, I think they match the stillen louvers quite well. I still have the old bonnet so if they start to bug me I can swap them over again. Rich260 Posted January 7, 2016 Author Share Posted January 7, 2016 I noticed my discs had seen better days when I was fitting the pads, I decided to hold off for a little while and do the whole lot in one hit. Ewen at Clark Motorsport was on hand to help out with new discs. I highly recommend this chap, very professional service and next day delivery. I'll defiantly be on his case later this year for a light weight flywheel and clutch package. I'll be doing a brake overhaul with fresh fluid this weekend so hopefully will get a marked improvement. In answer to your previous response Wasso did my plenum and I did everything else with my dremel,cam covers,the lot.Took me over 100 hours thru the winter of 2013.Changed it all since. We took it to Brands hatch last year for a test day and had to fit additional baffle plates to the exhaust as it was blowing 118Db and the limit was 104!
