  1. Interesting project Ash and glad you are shelving selling the zed. Are you going for a track build or show quality car or just a cool daily/fast road car.

The car is immaculate (and still even that is an under statement). It's all been setup for fast road and be used as temporary toy to keep me going through show season this year. Engine mods capable of supporting 500+ hp, also has nitrous installed. It's had some ££££ spent on suspension setup from complete poly bush and sways to anti lift kits/drop links and uprated engine/gearbox/diff mounts so it's absolutely solid under there. Also has a lot of carbon which I will probably carry throughout the interior. Got some lightweight Sparco bucket seats to go in also. Plenty to do until end of April which is when I plan to get it mapped by a guy called Bob Rawle (Subaru map God apparently ). Should be looking at 450 - 480ish bhp + 50 shot of nos

  2. **WARNING PIC HEAVY**

So post update. I received my new project over the weekend which I've already dived myself into!

Decisions on the zed TT have yet again changed! I have decided to bite the bullet and keep it for now until I build some funds (once I stop spending on the scooby ) to get the engine out and investigate what needs to be bought, and potentially start a 700hp build. But until then here are a few pics of the new toy. It's been nick name "The Black Bomber" in the past for reasons you will all know soon

Also before anyone mentions, the intercooler and flocked colour scheme is already on the list to be changed!! :yuck: :yuck:

Anyways hope you all like!! :p

  3. I've got parts to help make a hardcore zed if anyone interested ;)

I hope you are not parting this car out mate! It would be such a shame!

Unfortunately everything will be up for grabs this weekend. It's time to move on I think

    Bigger and better things?

So so. It's more sentimental than anything as it's a no expense spared unfinished project my step dad has owned for last 5/6 years. He's hit a point of breaking it as he can't finish it and it's worth more to be than the zed, so zed will need to go as much as I don't want it to.

  4. I paid a visit to my step dad yesterday who has a unfinished project he's been doing for last 5 years. He's taken a bit of turn and told me he was going to break it which I wasn't happy about considering it only needs to be put back together, and I also said if he was gonna sell, I'd buy it off him. So with great regret, I will be leaving the zed community and breaking my zed to fund a new project. As of this weekend all parts will be pulled of my 350z and put up for sale. I have already started a breaking thread on Facebook where a lot of parts have provisionally been held pending payments. I will try get a thread setup on here if the admins approve. I will update again in due course once I start pulling everything apart.

Sorry to hear this my friend but if it's what you want and a new opportunity has come along then good for you!

You and your car will be sadly missed on here so stick around and keep us up to speed on the new secret charriot!

I'll sure stick around. Met some amazing people on here, definitely best car community group about :)

  5. Sad times mate but you had a good innings. Whats the new project then?

All will be revealed. Wanna keep that one a secret for now ;) it's 430ish bhp, has a lot of carbon, anti lag, launch control. Will keep posted

  7. Sorry to hear this, feel your pain. Never good to hear about a big build going pop... Although at 50k it's done well, hopefully on tear down there isn't too much damage and the crank can be saved.

Yeah I hope so, getting little more hopeful that it won't be too bad but we'll see

  8. So sorry to see this mate.

We all run the the risk of a blow up pushing big numbers with F I but with a built engine it's not expected.

    Hope you get things sorted.

Yeah it is unfortunate but suppose nothing is ever 100% bullet proof. She's served well though considering how much stick it's got every time it's been driven

  9. Yes mate standard stillen kit

    Tuned with Ecutek

You was a little more hp quite a big torque difference tho

Yeah I noticed superchargers never made a great deal of torque over TT

  10. Sorry to hear that man

    What power was it at

I'm guessing 502 bhp at the fly.

Can't see his sig on mobile

Jealous as he has more than you ;)

    Hahaha

    Edit .........did :(

More thankfull I have less I think :(

What you running? Supercharged as well I take it?

  11. Ooofff sorry man ! Were you not selling this a few months back , saw an add for it. Hope you get it sorted with minimal hassle .

It's always up for sale, in a love hate kind of way  don't think anyone could front the cost I would want for it anyway haha

  12. I would be fitting a new pump on a build anyway not worth taking any risks.

Yeah I have been looking at uprated high pressure ones. Cosworth do one for £400ish, so may just go that route seeming as I'm in there anyway. Timing chain and tensioners will also be done as well. Also turbo actuators are long gone.

  13. 45-50k on a boosted forged engine, Im not surprised its gone tbh thats a good innings.

Triple plate clutch will have been putting more strain on the thrust bearing for starters, and only running a unichip piggybavk on a build like that?

In my opinion Id have the block ripped apart and get new bearings, and any necessary machine work, bores rehoned and a new set of rings whilst youre in there.

Then get new management asap, link plug and play ecu is only £1100 now.....

I think at the time when these APS TT kits were available, uni-chip was good value ecu at the time that worked well. Times have obviously moved on a lot since then as it's very dated now. Once I find out what's survived and what hasn't, I'll see about which route to take. Want to try avoid splashing out against the odds if possible, as it will just delay the build longer saving for the parts. I'll be happy to go up rev temporally until I can get some money aside for syvecs

  14. You must of spoken to Scott @Abbey.

High oil temps is normally a sign of bearings failing as the extra friction causes the oil to work harder so causing higher oil temps.

We haven't seen any oil pump's fail on the VQ like the RB or WRX pumps fail.

Yeah it was Scott I spoke to. Suppose that makes sense. I'm hoping the pump is alright because it'll save me a few £££ on top of what has failed.

Not getting much confidence with an RB

  15. Sorry to read this Ash. :byebye:

I've experienced oil pump failure which led to big end failure on my96 Impreza WRX that I used to own, ...also had a snapped conrod go through the block on the same WRX some 12K miles later after I'd spent a lot having it rebuilt but that's another story.

When I had my problem with the WRX it wasn't far off standard guise at the time and therefore had no oil pressure gauge. It happened whilst I was driving along the M4 on the way back from Japfest one year. The car was running fine but then when I came to the toll booth to go over the bridge it just cut out at the booth, ...I restarted it and had to keep the revs up a little to keep it running but thought maybe it was a plug/spark issue at first.

I kept driving home hoping nothing would go wrong but then I started to hear a knocking coming from the engine. Before I had a chance to pull over the car just made a loud clatter/knocking type noise and completely cut out.

Coasted to the side of the road and called an RAC flatbed immediately as I knew it was something serious that there was no way I could fix by the side of the motorway.

Not a nice experience especially not as at the time I'd only had the car a month or so. :headhurt:

Yeah it sucks to say the least. This is the second car I've had with engine failure. My first was a celica gen7 but self inflicted as the 140 models burn a lot of oil and I left it too long topping it up and still thrashing the poor thing haha

  16. Best to just pull the motor and carry out a complete tear down, establish the root cause and take it from there.

Unusual for a forged build to go pop.

Who did the build for you ?

It did occur to me why it may of gone pop if I'm forged. Oil is topped up max on dip stick so no loss. DS automotives done the build

  17. If your looking for something a little more again to keep the interest, why not stroke it?

That always keeps my interest.

I've often toyed with the idea. Who knows, we'll see  I'll probably stay as is if my pistons and rods are okay
