Brake Lines and Accessories

From Zwiki

Overview

Below are various brake accessories and components. Stainless steel brake lines can help stiffen the brake pedal and prevent that "mushy feel". When brakes heat up from track use, the brake fluid gets very hot and can cause the OEM rubber brake lines to stretch. The steel lines prevent any flexing under pressure. Most Big Brake kits come with stainless steel lines, so dont bother buying them if you plan to upgrade the full brake system later. There are also some cooling ducts offered to help keep those front brakes cool on the track. These work by directing airflow to the brake calipers and rotors while driving.

Let us know if you run across other brake accessories for the 350Z and/or G35. We try to keep these pages as up to date as possible.

Brake Lines

Each time you apply pressure to the brake pedal to slow your car, some of the hydraulic energy is wasted expanding the stock rubber brake lines. Effective braking power is decreased. This is also the cause of the soft feel some cars exhibit at the brake pedal. As the lines age, the softness increases. This "line swell" can be eliminated or greatly reduced with the use of high quality stainless steel brake lines. When combined with cross drilled rotors, high performance brake pads and high quality brake fluid, the difference in stopping power and brake feel is impressive.

The stock brake lines are rubber and under high heat and brake pressure can stretch, resulting in a soft pedal feel and inaccurate braking. For track conditions, stainless brake lines are a must have. Most, if not all big brake upgrades will come with stainless brake lines. Below are the available brake line optoins for those wanting to keep stock brakes (standard or Brembo).
