Drivetrain

From Zwiki

Jump to: navigation, search

Intro

The 350Z come with either a 5spd automatic (import only) or a 6spd manual transmission. This page lays out all the information that you may need when researching drivetrain components, OEM specs, aftermarket upgrades, and more. If there is information missing here, please add to, or revise the page and other related pages. The transmission in stock form has proven over the past few years capable of holding significant power. Some twin turbo cars have proven the drivetrain to around 600 wheel horsepower (whp) with only a clutch upgrade. The OEM clutch will begin slipping at around 400whp.

Almost every component in the drivetrain is replaceable and upgradeable using more robust aftermarket parts. This guide is design to make the decision making process easier by laying out the specs of all the components and offering suggestions from experienced enthusiasts.

Notes

Warning!!

Do not use GL5 transmission fluid. It will damage the synchros in the Nissan 350Z and Infiniti G35 transmissions. You need GL4 fluid. Most fluid available at autoparts stores is GL5. I purchased mine here: http://www.myoilshop.com/
